I have been using the HyperX Alloy Origins 60 for about two weeks now, and I can say it has met and exceeded my expectations.

The full aluminium construction of the casing gives the keyboard a significant amount of heft and genuinely no flex what so ever, very akin to a custom keyboard. The matte black finish does a great job at hiding fingerprints, though after extensive use it does start to show.

The PBT keycaps have a pleasant texture to them, which do a similar effort at hiding fingerprints. I would like to clarify, the version I received has the TAB, CAPS, SHIFT and ENTER keys as written and not symbols as seen in the advertising images and previous reviews. The layout of the multimedia, navigation and function keys are very well placed for one handed operation. This aspect makes it comparably better to use than its competitors, as the placement is very natural and easy to remember.

The HyperX Red switches are similar to Gateron Red switches with its linear actuation and typing feel. The stabilisers are very nice for a mass manufactured keyboard, with acceptable play and sturdiness. The RGB lighting for the keys is great, with every key having a single LED and the spacebar having three. The light passes through the PBT keycaps very uniformly.

The HyperX NGENUITY software can be downloaded via the website and Microsoft Store. I wanted to have a static red lighting profile to the keyboard for productivity, as the other three effects were too gamer for me. It was a simple and easy to do with the software, where the profile is saved to the keyboard itself, so you do not have to keep the software running in the background anymore for it to work, as previous reviews online have stated.

The braided detachable Type-A to Type-C cable is nice, and is standard for majority of the keyboards in this category, so nothing exceptional. There are two special keycaps for the Spacebar and ESC keys, and a key puller. The key puller is a great addition, something you would expect when building a custom keyboard, not a prebuilt one.

Overall, I am extremely happy with the HyperX Alloy Origins 60, having been quite sceptical before purchasing. I hope my review is of help to anyone else who is looking to pick one up for themselves.

The RGB lighting is stunning with many effects and is actually really really bright, I can use it with broad daylight coming through my window and have it still be very visible.

This is a really good keyboard with very customizable RGB options using Ngenuity, however not even after a month of use the W key begun to stick down after each click (I never ate while using the keyboard and cleaned it often). This issue has since resolved its self after some more time. The sound and feel of the keyboard are both great and funnily enough many people have commented on how satisfying it sounds. Would definitely recommend but make sure to claim warranty ASAP if anything goes wrong rather than hoping it goes away like I did.

I'm a typist, not a gamer!! However, after about three weeks of researching and learning all about mechanical keyboards and the different types of switches etc, I was more confused than anything. I figured that gamers are pretty hard core types of people and so keyboards made for gamers would be top notch. In the end, I picked this keyboard because I had a HyperX headset that was absolutely second to none (unfortunately they came with a job, and I had to hand them back when the job finished).

For me as a typist, this is pretty much the perfect keyboard. I prefer a full-size keyboard and this one is sturdy and adjustable. The keys themselves (HyperX Aqua Switches) are light and responsive. I learned how to type on a manual typewriter, so the noise doesn't bother me. It's not particularly loud, anyway.

I highly recommend this keyboard to other typists especially, but also to anyone in general who is looking for a well-performing product at a good price. HyperX had a good range of keyboards which will suit most people.

UPDATE: Still loving the keyboard. After a few day use I noticed that my muscle memory often wants to hit "enter" key in bottom right of the keyboard. On this one it hits right arrow. Easy fix was to reprogram the right arrow key on third profile to "enter". For daily use I'll use this profile and problem solved. No need to retrain muscle memory and hunt for the enter key... Especially when I'm entering a URL and reaching for the mouse I hit that lower bottom "enter" on the numpad. Now I just hit the right arrow with same effect... Beauty!!

This keyboard (aqua switches, tenkeyless) replaced the the original Razer BlackWidow Ultimate i got in 2009/2010 that had Cherry switches and not the custom in-house switches they put into keyboards now. BlackWidow was replaced due to wiring issues and not wanting to waste more time repairing it.

I looked at a LOT of keyboards on the market now and settled on this one, even though HyperX Ngenuity software was criticized in reviews. I'm primarily a Linux user and will use it occasionally for gaming.

I've gotten a tenkeyless version, since I don't use numpad for day-to-day. It is very nice and distance to reach the mouse is welcomed.

Upon first plugging it in, RGB was blaring brightly in a wave pattern. It's not very nice at all. Since on Linux, I looked at OpenRGB first to see if I can program it, but current version 0.6 even though it had support failed to do anything. I installed Ngenuity software in Windows (beta, offline version they have on website - not from Windows store). I was immediately prompted for firmware update. When I started it I learned about the three profiles. Configured first to be "black" and no effects; second to be fully on with single solid colour but opacity set to 10 so it's very dim (for night mode) and third one had "explosion" effect with high fade so that it lights up small area if you click on the keys. I doubt I'll be using the third one but it's there for show.

I read that settings aren't saved on the keyboard, so to test I plugged it back into Linux machine and settings were saved on the keyboard. This is a nice surprise I was worried about and glad that keyboard preserves profile settings on board and doesn't require software running in the background.

Keys can be re-bound, reprogrammed with macros, etc. This may come useful in the future. As I'm typing this review I can say that compared to original Razor, keys have a bit sharper edges so moving fingers between keys can cause a bit of a fatigue, but I think this is something I may get used to rather quickly. Sound is nice and quiet and provides just enough tactile feedback.
