‘Hunting’ has a slightly different heroine. Dwym is not the prettiest of the women visiting the Buchanan clan looking for a husband, but she is a very appealing heroine. Honest and emotionally mature, her appeal is clear. She is that woman we all know and like because she is so genuine.
But it is her substantial bosom that first attracts Geordie Buchanan. Much of the humour comes from Geordie’s regular checking of Dwym’s neckline, and the matchmaking efforts of her funny younger sisters. As the story progresses Dwym keeps her cool despite cattiness and mysterious injuries to her person. This is truly entertaining reading. And while characters from previous books make an appearance, ‘Hunting’ is a standalone book.

I love they way you always get updates on the past characters when reading the next members story.
But there's only two Buchanans' left I'll be sad when the series ends.
Because I can't put them down
I have, to this point, thoroughly enjoyed this series...but this book missed the mark for me. Maybe I am just spoiled by this author's otherwise exceptional, clever and witty writing style and stories. I had preordered this book in anticipation of the next in the series, And, I have all of this series on both Kindle and Audible.
I even held off on reading it so I could enjoy the "immersion reading" with the Audible version when it came out....
Unfortunately - This is not her best book in series; doesn't get moving until half way through when villain(s) begin to be more obvious. I wasn't even sure there would BE a villain and was getting bored enough to start skimming through all the sex.
First half of book is brother Geordie Buchanan ogling and falling in lust with Dwyn Innes' huge breasts that were perpetually falling out of her dresses and one after another sex scenes.
Audible version narrator makes Geordie sound mentally deficient. Maybe it was just me, but the narrator came across like a Scottish 'Bevis & Butthead'. Kept expecting him to say 'boosom! heh heh heh! He said boosom!'. It really rather tainted the story for me. Maybe should read it again later without the narration. Joel Foomkin has done a wonderful job on other books - don't know what happened here.
When I read the blurb, I immediately preordered this book, I am a sucker for wallflower finding their voice. But it is some much more than this classical trope.
It is only later I realized this book is the eighth in a series, but never I felt lost, the many characters are introduced with right amount of details to get to know them and appreciate their strength.
So much I need now to read Aulay and Conran stories.
Be warned you are in for one steamy and scorching hot ride, as the main couple can hardly keep their hands from the other.
Dwyn is so much more than most people sees in her, she might not meet some beauty standard, yet her kindness and resourcefulness enhance her natural and inner loveliness.
She is sure a quiet young woman, but she is not demure nor weak. She just needs the right incentive or person to enlighten what already lies on the surface but is not always seen among other prettier declared women.
I loved she is no woman to drop and weep when hardships fall on her steps, she does not run in circle, arms up, she considers her options and acts.
She is also genuine and straightforward, she knows who she is and what are seen as her shortcomings, she speaks her mind.
Still when she meets Geordie, she knows he is well out of her reach as she is more ordinary than a renowned beauty.
Geordie, in fact now I realize I learned few about him albeit he is a honorable and fierce man, he was raised along his siblings in what seems a close knitted tribe, so despite the loss of his parents, he never lacked of care and love. The Buchanan siblings are a cohesive bunch.
Yet, when in intimate contact with Dwyn, she stirs feelings he never felt, he can’t shake her out his system, and when misfortune befalls on her, he is unable to rely on other for her safety, he must be the one on the front line to protect her.
And he will face a lot of trouble as many twits and turns await them as danger is lurking in the shadows.
4.5 stars for this fast-paced, full of actions, steamy and entertaining read of a man and his clan banding together to protect the woman he came to value more than life.
I was granted an advance copy through Edelweiss by the publisher Avon, prior to it, I preordered my own.
Here is my true and unbiased opinion.
Whiskey & Wit Book Reviews
I like Sands, but not this. It read as a stinted storyline of a series of events that were only linked together at the very end, punctuated by steamy scenes. Most of those scenes I skipped. I didn't care.
Geordie read like a teenage boy obsessed with boobs. It was all he talked about. While his wife was escaping her kidnapper, he recognized her by her chest. HE.WAS.RIDICULOUS. for a 29 yr old, he was clueless. I am pretty sure he married the girl for her boobs. I wish she ended up with the uncle who was a sexy 40-something year old (in my head).
This time it’s Geordie’s turn.
Word is out that there are 3 unwed Buchanan brothers left. An extended house party with several unwed ladies staying at Aulay and Jetta’s, looking to entice one of the strapping brothers into marriage.
Geordie has no interest in getting hitched. But then he meets a very well endowed young lady, hiding from the festivities in a tree.
The book has a villain, as it should. But the main emphasis is on the love story and physical humor.
