Totally a winning series, the men of the halfway house. Book two sees Cameron and Hunter meet when Cameron is released from prison and paroled to the halfway house where he meets Hunter an Assistnt D.A. In book two we are introduced to Aiden, a detective who is best friends with Hunter and Jessie Hunter's trusty legal assistant. Plus we have ongoing visits with Matt and Julian, and Sam, and seriously could a series get any better? Plenty of love, desire and angst, great romance novel with a cracking plot. 6 Stars.

A good read after book one. A bit darker but not an intense thriller. More of a romance with a twist of mystery. I will be looking for book three.

4.0 out of 5 stars I loved the first book of this series and was excited ... 21 April 2016

Book 2 in "The Men of Halfway House" series.

Cameron Pierce is the first guest to The Halfway House. Recently released from a 10-year sentence on a murder charge. Cameron takes a job in a local diner trying to readjust to living in a world he no longer knows.

Hunter Donovan is an Assistant State Attorney who is a regular customer to the diner with a slight addition to the cookies. Hunter has always put his career first but with his birthday approaching, he also is realizing, he is alone.

Chemistry is off the charts between Cam and Hunter from the moment they see each other.

I loved the first book of this series and was excited to see that the story would continue for "The Men of Halfway House", I jumped with joy. The story line and connections between the characters is amazing. Jaime Reese is the master with plot twist and turns, keeping you interested from the first sentence to the last.

Be sure to check out the entire series "The Men of Halfway House":

A Haunted Man (Book 2) - released April 2014

5.0 out of 5 stars THE STORY CONTINUES..AND GETS BETTER. 26 June 2014

In this sequel to "A Better Man" the story of Halfway House continues with the introduction of the first resident. And the series gets much better.

Cameron is a convicted murderer and after ten years is released to the halfway house. Issues dealing with his conviction surface when his case file is read by Matt and Julian, but they are there to support him and help him re-integrate into society. Through friends, Cameron finds work in a local sandwich and bakery shop. Here he meets Hunter, a prosecuting attorney and there is immediate chemistry.

And thus begins the story of the first resident of the house.and here is where this book really takes off and becomes a romantic crime thriller. There is so much going on in this entry to the series that it barely resembles the first. There are hoodlums, threats of and actual violence, bad guys, good guys, crooked judges, and a well written action romance. This is a real trip!

If the rest of this series is as good as the book, then hold on for a great ride!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Beautiful Man! 16 May 2014

I loved the first book in this series but Cameron and Hunter really got me in this one. The emotional and physical pain that Cam was subjected too just really tore at me and it will be a while for emotional scars to heal. I wanted to badly to just grab him and hold him close and to never let him go.

But.. he has Hunter for that and Hunter did an amazing job. He knew exactly what Cam needed when Cam needed it the most, whether it was just to stand there, say his name in that special way he had or to simply reach out and touch him.

Hunter was just simply amazing. The way he fought for Cam, how he seemed to understand on such an internal level what Cam needed at any given moment! I'm repeating myself but it was just amazing.

I highly recommend this book along with the first if you haven't read it. I cannot wait for the next one and will one-click it just as fast as I did this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book 2 and series keeps exceeding expectations. 9 July 2014

Jamie Reese has done it a second time! Great story and even better characters. Matt and Julian have finally opened the doors of Halfway House. Their first participant is Cameron a recently released inmate who served time for a laundry list of crimes that don't make sense to anyone. Cameron is hard pressed to believe that Halfway house is really what it seems. He is constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop. Any sign of hope can lead him to panic attacks. Cameron wants to do good and be a success. He starts working at a small mom and pop sandwich shop. Who knew latte art was soothing? What's more soothing to Cameron is Hunter a local attorney who quickly develops feelings for Cameron. Just as Cameron is about to tell Hunter about his past the past comes calling hard and fast. Hunter and Cameron are amazing together. Its really hard to shine more than Matt and Julian but they succeed on different levels. On side note, i love the Cole! I enjoy characters that steal scenes. His relationship with Julian is hilarious. Book 3 soon I hope! Oh hope everyone took a minute to notice the beautiful cover art so much talent.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!!! 30 April 2014
By Island Lover - Published on Amazon.com

I have been looking forward to this book after reading A Better Man and it did not disappoint. I bought this book in the morning when I woke up and it was finished by the time I got home. Cameron was exactly how a man falsely locked up for ten years should be: appears strong on the outside, but is actually broken on the inside and need a lot of emotional support. And Hunter was just the kind of man he needed: strong inside and outside. These two men meeting were kismet because Hunter really was the only one in the position to put the puzzle of Cam's life together and solve it in enough time to save him. It seemed like the universe realized it had failed him, but was now righting it all by putting the one man in his path that could fix it all. And this man just happened to be the love of his life. The events these two men survived just shows why they were right for each other and strengthened their love. The hotness of the sex between them was just an added bonus to a book already fraught with action, drama, mystery and suspense. This is a riveting read and I couldn't put it down until the very end. And then I was sad when it ended. Recommend.
