After reading the synopsis I expected to read a story about a woman name Vesa who after finding herself kidnapped, corralled and marked has to fight for her freedom even if her captor is some sexy dominant beast of a man named Haddix Bloodmoon.
In fairness, the story did start off this way, with the writer switching between Vesa and Haddix POV's during the 'Hunt' scenes but then within a few chapters, there's a slight detour where I was suddenly following another set of characters story (Brayden & Atten) and then a bit further in, I got detoured again with Tyson and Vesa's sisters story.
The extra primary characters and their POV's did mesh with the overall storyline but it was completely irrelevant to Vesa and Haddix's story. It ended up feeling more like three short stories, involving six main characters compiled together to make one longer story. I did not like this aspect of the book at all and had I known that this is how the story played out I would not have purchased it. Also...
Haddix seemed like a nice enough guy and although he didn't put much pressure on Vesa to be intimate or conform to shifter ways I couldn't help but note that he didn't really do much to help her either. Sure he saved her initially but he then just expected her to accept that her life was no longer hers.
Everyone in the Bloodmoon pack expected her to just get over the fact that she undergone a horrible ordeal being kidnapped and force to run for her life from monsters she didn't even know existed and if she complained about it...well she was seen as being difficult. She did have sass though which I did enjoy.
Another thing, Haddix was the alpha of the Bloodmoon pack, both Brayden and Tyson were also alpha's in the same pack but they chose lesser roles and voted Haddix as the alpha because they didn't want the responsibility but this seemed to only pave the way for their own selfish acts where they only listened to Haddix when it suited them. As an example, instead of Brayden following his alpha into the hunt to make sure the pack is protected from other packs who might decide to cause trouble, he off doing his own thing and when this is brought to Haddix attention, he just accepts it. How can a pack run with three alpha's? It cant!
Finally, although Haddix mentions at the start that he was an unwilling participant in the Hunt until him and his wolf spotted Vesa. Despite explaining this to her later that he had no choice and HAD to participate because it was the rule of the Council they all must obey and live by, this explanation felt more like a way of Haddix trying to place the blame for his actions at someone's feet? This suspicion is proven when he is quick to ignore one of the council rules later in the story without worrying about retribution.
I did not totally dislike this book but wish I had been properly informed of the style for which it had been written.
