4.0 out of 5 stars Consistently helpful messages that every writer needs to hear, regularly 21 December 2014
By Aisling D. - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
This is an entertaining collection of "letters to my earlier self" by successful writers. Many of the letters are rich with insights. Only a few indulge in obvious self-promotion. All of them share consistent, encouraging messages about persistence, focus, and knowing whether a book can be salvaged or if it should be abandoned as a "learning experience."

I like this book because it's like having a coach at your elbow, supporting your best decisions and steering you away from things that, in your heart, you probably know are a waste of time. In some ways, this book is like having a trusted support group available 24/7.

You can't beat the price, and I heartily recommend this book for writers at any level of experience.

Every article/letter in this eBook offers such great wisdom. There is something for every writer, in every stage of their career, to learn. I am honored to be one of the contributors and to be among such wonderful writers. A huge thanks to Carrie Butler and PK Hrezo for bringing this compilation to life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Traveling down The Write Path 31 October 2014
By Norma Beishir - Published on Amazon.com

This is a book I can't recommend enough to every writer, no matter what stage you may be at currently in your career. I may write a letter to myself now, having read it, because there are some things I really need to hear, even in hindsight. Thanks to the authors who shared their experiences with the rest of the writing community!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Compilation of Helpful Letters 25 October 2014
By C. Lee McKenzie - Published on Amazon.com

I might not have made as many mistakes in my writing career if I'd had this book. Varied, positive and often insightful, this compilation of letters by authors who are out there everyday writing and promoting their books is a great tool to have next to your computer. My copy is already bookmarked in several places.

5.0 out of 5 stars I doubt you'll find another collection like this in a hurry 9 October 2014

This book gets 5 stars.
A batch of heartfelt letters written by authors. Really unique. I doubt you'll find another collection like this in a hurry...
These are some points that captured my attention:
1. The three P's - patience, perseverance, passion.
2. Write down your ideas, you WILL forget them later.
3. Practice creative altruism - it's all about supporting others, and in doing so you're supporting yourself too.
4. Schedule time for writing.
5. Celebrate every milestone, no matter how big or small.
6. Distance from your manuscript lends a fresh perspective.
7. Economize your words.
8. Find out what doesn't work, so that you can work out what does.
9. Go to conferences. Network. Mingle.
10.Yes, you are running a business even when you think you're not.
11. A writer must read, read, read.
12. Backlist is everything.

...a printed copy of these points pasted above my computer is a good idea...don't you think?
