How To Eat To Live, Book 1 By Elijah Muhammad For more than 30 years, messenger Elijah Muhammad has been teaching the so-called Negroes of America on the proper foods to eat to improve their mental power, physical appearance, for prevention of illness, curing of ailments and prolonging life. Given the humble, economic conditions of the blacks in America, an inexpensive, yet highly nutritional diet was given to them by Elijah Muhammad. Before the health craze that has swept the country, Elijah Muhammad and the Nation of Islam were head of the curve as far back as the early 30's. This is the first of two books written with this simple, yet revolutionary way of eating.
Elijah Muhammad was born on October 7, 1897 in Sandersville, Georgia. He met his teacher, Master Fard Muhammad in Detroit, Michigan after migrating there in the early 1930's. Upon the departure of his teacher, Elijah Muhammad became the Leader, Teacher and Guide of what went from The Lost-Found Nation of Islam in North America to what is known today as the Nation of Islam. Notable students of the Messenger were Malcolm X Little, later named Malik El Shabazz, Cassius Clay, also named Muhammad Ali, and Louis Wilcox, later named Louis Farrakhan. While I do agree with a lot of the book, based on my own healthy eating habits, there were a few things I didn't agree with, at least as it relates to me. For instance, eating once a day ( which I have tried on numerous occasions) doesn't work for me. The thing that doesn't sit well with me is that Mr. Muhammad seems to think that because eating once a day worked for him that it should work for everyone. With all due respect, he was a small,frail man. I, on the other hand, am at least a foot taller and one hundred pounds heavier than him. (And no, I am not fat, 6'5 213lbs). My bigger point is everyone has different body types and I know exactly what works for me and what doesn't. Another annoyance was Mr Muhammad's tendency to repeat him constantly. Please don't get me wrong I found this book to be very useful and informative but I don't agree with every single word...

How to eat to live has really changed the way I eat. I was hard a first trying to dive right in eating one meal a day. For me i had to gradually reduce my meals. Now am down to two meals a day and soon will reduce it to one. My body and mind has so much energy once I eliminated the bad foods from my diet. I truly recommend this book for everyone.

I loved this book! It all makes sense! I believe in the teachings that has been brought fourth through honorable master fard Muhammad where it I taught what we should be eating and how least we should be eating. Reading this book reveals how bad we treat our bodies through the teaching of our current doctors, media streams, tribal knowledge, and developed habits. It's discussing. Reading this book can set you free of many health problems. It is a must read. This was the best $5.00 investment I have. Thanks Elijah Muhammad.

Incredible book, I started applying his message from this book and it has done wonders with weight loss, clarity of mind , energy and I feel amazing! I wish I read this book years ago, I would look half my age and I look 15 years younger now! :)
