Product description

Product Description

Jon Brennan comes from a long line of men in uniform; all born and bred to both bleed and wear blue. His family and the majority of his co-workers support him every step of the way, so he doesn’t need to hide the fact that he prefers men over women. Between the job and his larger than life, loud and rowdy half Irish, half Italian family, there isn’t much time for dating, much less finding a guy that can deal with the stress and demands placed on the shoulders of an NYPD Detective.

Kory White is cocky and abrasive with most people, but it is all a mirage, a façade he hides behind to keep his heart safe. As a child, Kory lost his mother to an act of violence. Soon after, he and his baby sister Kassandra were separated by the system. Kassandra was immediately adopted, but Kory spent the next ten years cycling through foster homes before moving to the Big Apple. In an effort to keep everyone at a distance, Kory has meticulously built himself an alter ego: Hayden Cox, All Cocks’ cockiest model.

These two strong willed men definitely prove opposites do attract. Both are stubborn and hard headed to a fault, Kory more so than Jon. But Jon is used to being in control, the one calling the shots, and Kory fights him at every turn. Just when it seems they have found a way to navigate the unchartered territory that is love, tragedy knocks on Kory’s door yet again. Volatile and strong, even in the face of adversity, both men refuse to give up on each other - or their love.

4.0 out of 5 stars How to Deal: An All Cocks Story for Kory and Jon! 12 April 2016

I was so looking forward to Kory and John's story! I mean come on, Kory all cocky and full of attitude getting matched to someone who won't take his crap? This was going to be fun! It didn't disappoint! Jon Brennan is an NYPD Detective from a long line of boys in blue. He loves his job especially now that he got him introduced to his favorite All Cocks model Hayden Cox. But it's not Hayden he wants to get to know, it's Kory and Kory couldn't be more surprised, because everyone usually wants the cocky Hayden over who he truly is as Kory.

I loved these two together even the constant fights because it wasn't one of those fight and run away and not talk for days/weeks kind of things. Jon wouldn't let Kory run away from him, no matter how much he pushed for exactly that!

My one issue is, that in this book a tragedy hits Kory and the All Cocks family, but as much as the one that hits Kory is the main focus (as it should be since it's his story) I feel like the other half the situation was basically glanced over. The true loss from this family was never explored to the level I think it should have been. In book 3 we don't get to live through this event from the other POV either so it really should have shown somewhere. Maybe it's the love of angsty stuff in me, but I truly think this story could've been 5 stars if it just had that part.

Overall, I am still in love with this series and the authors writing is easy to follow and characters are well developed.

Dealing with your past is hard enough when it was rough, but not dealing with it while trying to focus on the present and future is even harder. Corey has met his match in Jon and maybe will finally be able to put his past in the past.

How to Deal was a really good story. The characters were well described and made you feel like you knew them. I especially liked the HEA. A well written good read.
4.0 out of 5 stars Great addition to the series 3 December 2015

How to Deal is the third book in the All Cocks Series but each book can be read as a standalone. I have read each one so I knew a bit about Kory before going in...he wasn't exactly my favorite character before but I knew there was something about him that I liked...I do tend to like the troubled ones.

Kory and Jon first saw each other when Jon was called out to Club Berlin over an overdose that involved one of Kory's friends. The moment Jon saw Kory aka Hayden a Cox he took his breath away, it wasn't the first time he had seen the man but has never seen him up close. Kory happened to be Jon's favorite porn star. They didn't even talk that night but when he saw him again a few days later, he knew he wanted to get to know Kory and not Hayden...

Kory thought the sexy cop was something else when he saw him but he is not the type to date so when Jon asked him out he wasn't sure if it was because he wanted Hayden Cox, the porn star or the standoffish, stubborn as hell, troubled Kory. He was the type to keep people at a distance, he has a very painful past and because of that he has trouble trusting others and also afraid once he cares for them that they will leave him in some way. But what he didn't know was that Jon was also stubborn as hell and determined to show Kory that he wasn't going anywhere. Can Kory let his walls down when it comes to Jon?

Jon and Kory are both stubborn and at times they want to rip each other's heads off but then they also want to tear each other's clothes off and have crazy passionate sex. They have to also deal with one another's careers, Jon is a detective and that makes Kory fear for the worst, that he could be killed. And then there is Kory's job as a porn star, Jon knew going into the relationship what that meant but can he handle it?

I think these two are awesome. Jon is supportive, sweet and can also be alpha when he needs to be. Then there is Kory, he might be an ass but once you get to know him, he is pretty amazing. I thought it was also sweet of him to keep some physical acts away from the set so it was just for Jon. There is also more to this story than just sex and love, it's about family too. Will Kory finally find the family he has been missing?

Overall...it was sexy, fun and emotional. I can't wait for the next book...I know who I want to read about next but we have to wait to find out who the next couple is...hmm.

P.S. Jon's family is hilarious!

Quotes:

“Well, you should know I don’t give up that easily. When I see something I want I go after it. Right now, I want you, and I can run very, very fast. You should watch out; I just might catch you.”

“Well, I have to know, did it really taste like raspberries?”

“Do not even try to argue with me. You stink. Go wash your nasty ass. And what is that thing on your face? It looks like a ferret’s a--has taken up residence on your chin.”
4.0 out of 5 stars solid read, but maybe not for me. 30 November 2016

Independent reviewer for Divine Magazine, I was gifted the AUDIO version of this book.

Jon is a NYPD police detective. He meets Kory when dealing with a case. Jon knew who Kory's alter ego is. But Jon didn't want to get to know Hayden Cox, porn star, he wanted to get to know Kory, the man who suffered so much as a child, losing his mum, and his sister. Both men are stubborn, but they both know, they will have to learn to deal with their issues, or lose each other. And that really isn't an option.

This is book 3 in the All Cocks series. I have listened to book one, but not read/listened to book two. I don't think it matters. I didn't miss anything except a more in depth knowledge of how Victor, Andrew and Matthew came to be together.

I enjoyed this one much more than I did book one, but I'm still not sure this troupe of books is for me! And I don't know why!

I again didn't like that we got some of Kory's work. I *think* this might me my biggest problem, that one of the main characters is having sex with someone else. I dunno, maybe it's just me.

I liked that Jon knew up front who Kory has as an alter ego. I liked that he made it clear he did not want to know Hayden, but wanted to know Kory. I liked that Kory fought Jon tooth and nail, all the way! I cried at Kory's past, what happened to him and his sister. Loved how that tuned out!

Also loved watching something happening between some of the other guys at All Cocks.

Joel Leslie narrates.

Although he did not narrate book one, my issues remain the same. Leslie dips his voice in places, making it hard for me to hear, even with the iPod turned right up. Wasn't as much as the narrator did in book one, but it still made me rewind a little to try to catch what was said. I also found the Brennan brothers voices all very similar, bar Tristan, making it hard to judge who was saying what in multi person conversations.

I'll not write Leslie off just yet though. It might just be this particular recording. I'll give him another go, maybe with a different author's piece of work.

I'd also like to READ (rather than listen to) another series by Smith. I like the way their mind works and how they tell a story.

Because I liked both the story and the narration more than book one, but still have some issues...

4.5 for the story
4.5 for the narration
4.5 overall.
