+ I like the premise of the book: Tips and tricks for how to cut down on alcohol or stop drinking. I think it's safe to say that in these pandemic times, some people may have had trouble moderating their alcohol consumption as lockdown goes on (and that's nothing to be ashamed about). With little to no freedoms these days -- I'm in Toronto, and we've been in an almost-perpetual lockdown from December 2020 to the time I write this review: June 2021 -- I have personally found it increasingly difficult to *not* crack a bottle of wine mid-week or have a few beers on a Tuesday evening because... why not? However, not wanting this habit to get away from me to the point it becomes problematic, I thought I would do some reading and rewiring. This book is a good reminder of how to drink moderately and not necessarily habitually, and that when you drink, you should be mindful and not chug one drink for the sake of getting to the next. This book is also great at offering that sort of advice without making you feel bad about yourself. It helps you recognize when you drink, with whom, how often, etc. and once you've identified the sources, it's much easier to see patterns and be mindful of your alcohol consumption.
- Seems to be pushing an abstinence narrative over a moderation one.
- Almost *impossible* to read on my Kindle because the font is tiny and there are some sections where the font is such a light grey it basically blends into the white of the page. Horrible. If you want to buy this, I recommend going for the physical book and not the e-book.
