The official debut book from YouTube phenomenon Lilly Singh.

'The ultimate no-nonsense manual for millennials how how to make it to the top' Marie Claire

From actress, comedian and YouTube sensation Lilly Singh (aka Superwoman) comes the definitive guide to being a BAWSE - a person who exudes confidence, reaches goals, gets hurt efficiently, and smiles genuinely because they've fought through it all and made it out the other side.

Told in her hilarious, bold voice that's inspired over 9 million fans, and using stories from her own life to illustrate her message, Lilly proves that there are no shortcuts to success.

WARNING: This book does NOT include hopeful thoughts, lucky charms, and cute quotes. That's because success, happiness and everything else you want in life needs to be fought for - not wished for. In Lilly's world, there are no escalators. Only stairs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lilly Singh: The Bawse of Personal and Professional Change 30 March 2017

I purchased the hardcover edition of this book. The book if of high quality physically which is the very first thing I noticed. The content of the book is divided into four parts, Each chapter includes portions to involve the reader to maintain a higher level of engagement. I find these are often the best books because they really do make the reader internalize the knowledge presented. Essentially, if you just want to pass the time with a YouTuber's biography, read Lindsey Stirling and Brooke Passey's biography of Lindsey's early career "The Only Pirate At The Party". It is designed to be a read through. HTBAB is not. You will grow if you take your time and do the exercises.

I found Lilly Singh through violinist Lindsey Stirling. Rather, fellow fans kept mentioning her so I finally looked her up. I honestly didn't really know who she was until shortly before VidCon 2016. What touched me about Lilly Singh is that she is the same person off camera as she is on camera. She was launching her new GirlLove social project, and was so excited I thought she was going to go crowd surfing. Miss Singh is a hard working, and passionate individual spreading a positive message of strength for all genders and ages. HTBAB is a tool of outreach to those who want to better themselves both personally and professionally. It is only because I saw the consistency between online and offline integrity that I pre-ordered this book. When you look beyond the sets, the celebrities, the makeup, Lilly Singh is a woman who is out to make thigns happen for herself and the world united. Buy this book. You can't afford not to.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm a 36 years young woman who found love with Lilly's positivity 14 April 2017

I haven't have finished this book yet, but it has already changed my life. I'm a 36 years young woman who found love with Lilly's positivity. I wanted to book because I'm looking forward to making big changes in my life and you the motivation. I have a 10 year old who was diagnosed with ADHD. We've been having issues with discipline and teaching him self-love. He read the first chapter because it was titled "Nintendo". This kid loves his video games. Because of her analogy, I was able to explain to my son that I was his Game Designer. When I set rules I am not the enemy. I am only making the rules to give him more skills and character. Now when we fight I remind him that I am not trying to hurt him I'm trying to grow him. Fights don't last long and he goes to bed reading "How to be a Bawse" every night! I think I'm going to have to order another book if I am going to read it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Although I love Lilly Singh's vlog 2 April 2017

Although I love Lilly Singh's vlog, movie, and lipstick, I was a little concerned that this book would be so filled with pop cultural references that the meat might get obscured. Happily not, and I should have known better! The book is interesting, fast-paced, and Lilly's tone comes through in every line. In addition, I love a woman who is not afraid to use semicolons correctly.

3.0 out of 5 stars Honest Review 1 April 2017

Overall, this was a quick and simple read. Each of the 50 chapters are short and to the point, maybe 5 pages each at most. However, I also thought this may have been one of the reasons I couldn't give the book a higher rating. Singh offers a lot of great advice and mini pearls of wisdom, but as soon as you start processing the lesson, the chapter ends. Before you know it, the book is over and your head is swirling with just fragments of advice.

In the chapter, "Send the GPS Deep", she states "When it comes to understanding our behavior and why we do the things we do, I believe each of us has a minimum of three layers....the bottom layer consists of the deeply rooted reasons we actually behave the way we do." When Singh first announced her book, I was excited to read it and support her because I have been a long-time fan. However, I assumed the book was going to give us a deeper glimpse of who she is off-camera aside from the unicorns, skittles, and T-shirt references. I hoped she was going to provide the reader more insight into her third layer. At times she did do this, especially in the "Out of The Blue" concluding sections, but other than that the book remained largely surface-level. I can assume this is because she deeply values her privacy, and even alludes to that in the chapter "Be Secretive." But I can't help but feel that if she expanded on her advice over a few more pages per chapter instead of sticking to the strict formula of opening metaphor-real world example-conclusion, and was willing to be a bit more vulnerable, that the overall tone of the book would have felt more substantive and personal. However, I do recognize that this is her first book and applaud her for keeping true to herself and her style.

...and just an FYI: if you are considering buying the book, I would definitely purchase the hardcover version instead of the ebook. Every chapter begins with a wonderfully colorful picture and title page. The ebook version hampers the reading experience in that sense because it just simply doesn't do the layout justice. (Also, I believe she has actually signed many of the hardcover versions in North America).

5.0 out of 5 stars No exaggeration- I have made changes to my life already 1 April 2017

This book has genuinely got me off my ass. She's honestly someone that has EARNED this recognition and her book speaks to the value of what she's earned. Speaking totally truthfully- the book is written in a tone that if you don't already know how she speaks, it takes a moment to get use to but this tone specifically speaks to the positivity of following your dreams all the while kicking your ass into gear. It's my favorite book by far and 100% worth your money. I ordered copies for all my friends in the hopes of helping them to also be inspired to change their lives for the best.
Ps I have both the hard cover and the audio book... try to order the hard cover because the quality of the book is genuinely amazing - beautiful photos, quality pages, vivid colors. Absolutely worth the shipping and handling price.
