Product Description

Guys like Joel Wentworth weren't supposed to fall in love with girls like me. He could have had his pick of girls, but somehow the laws of nature were defied and we fell crazy in love.

After graduation, Joel left for New York. And, despite him wanting me to go with him, I'd refused, unwilling to disappoint my parents and risk the judgment of my friends. I hadn’t seen him again. Never even spoken to him.

I've spent the last eight years working hard to put my career front and center in my life, dodging any personal complications. I have a strict no-dating policy. I've managed to piece together a reality that works for me.

Until now.

Now, Joel's coming back to London.

And I need to get over him before he gets over here.

Hopeful is a stand alone, sexy contemporary romance.

"A great Read, I highly recommend this book." Books and Beyond Fifty Shades

"This is a true love story and I couldn't put it down! I highly recommend! " Gwen the Book Diva

"“Hopeful is hands down a five star book."

"It was amazing. The author has a way of pulling you in from the very beginning. It was hard for me to put it down to go to bed." Summer's Book Blog

"My heart was irrevocably stolen....more like willingly thrown at Joel's devilishly handsome feet. I thoroughly enjoyed this book not solely because of Joel, but also the storyline and the emotions that were successfully forced out of me." Page Turning Book Junkie

"This is a story that pulls at your heart all the way through. I was so taken by this book I couldn’t put it down." Eye Candy Bookstore

You're inside the head of Ava feeling her thoughts, her life everything. For some this is disconcerting. So be warned if you are not into this type of story. It's terrible to feel worthless, someone deserves better than you. Dealing with her insecurities Ava loses the love of her life Joel. I don't think she really sees her value.

It back & forth a lot,,some may think she is whiny but understand she is insecure of life, love. Ah Joel, at times I did doubt him but it's only because of Ava's perspective. Their friends are the problem too having to deal with their romance.

Look, it's one of those books that gets inside your head too. I liked it I hope you do too.

4.0 out of 5 stars She is lucky she got a second chance in my opinion 16 September 2014

You will want to give an award to Joel, the male protagonist in this story, when you complete the book. His attraction, friendship, and love for Ava, the female protagonist was epic. I had a hard time reading this book because Ava was very insecure and cared more what everyone around her thought rather than herself. The story was told from her POV and went from present time, which is 8 years after she graduates from college and past time, when she and Joel embark on their romance in their last year of college. I liked the couple's gradual chemistry and build up to their romance, but Ava's constant insecurities wore me down. She was young and I wasn't surprised when she didn't take a leap of faith in love with Joel in the past. She was able to redeem herself way later in the present time after finally admitting her true feelings for Joel and acting like the mature adult she should have been. I know I yearn for an HEA for most stories, but for this one, I didn't . I don't know how Joel went so long playing Ava's games. He deserved someone so much better than Ava in my opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book 3 March 2015

I feel like I read things out of order. I read One week in New York first. I really liked it. Then, I realized that the characters of Leah and Daniel had their own book, Faithful, so I read that next, then I discovered this book, Hopeful. I think I might have to go back and do a reread of A week in New York.
Anyway, I loved all 3, and can't wait to finish Anna' s series and hopefully see more of these characters.
I really liked the switch between past and present. I loved the friendship between all of them, Daniel, Adam, Matt, Joel, Hannah, Jules, and Ava. Their friendship reminded me a lot of my favorite 80's movie, St. Elmos Fire. I was in College when that movie came out, in fact my senior year and it always reminds me of my college years and my friends.
I understood Ava' s struggle and feelings of insecurity. She had beautiful friends and felt a little plain and inexperienced. I must admit, I kept expecting them to get caught during their college dating, even knowing that they wouldn't. I really got caught up in the story.
I think you should read this book, it is really good. I really enjoyed it.

Wow, another wonderful book by this author. I started it and finished it in one day which is rare for me given I don't have a lot of reading time. I loved the slow build up, the way it jumped from the past to the present as it worked towards us finding out what had kept these two apart for so long given how much they'd once loved one another. I had all sorts of ideas going through my head but I finally figured out what it was going to be, just before the reason was revealed anyway.
I loved Joel. He was so sexy and just a wonderful man. I wanted to hug him, whereas Ava had me wanting to shake her and tell her to wake up to herself at times. She was so busy worrying about what everyone would think all the time. She governed her whole life on that basically and I couldn't understand that with her. I mean, if I had a man like Joel, I'd be screaming it from the rooftops.
There were times when I wanted to hug him, to shake her and finally knock their heads together and I was on tender hooks waiting to see how it would all pan out in the end.
LOVED this book. LOVED their story and I LOVE the way this author writes. The perfect blend of hot and sexy, with romance and a story that sucks you in.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely story 18 August 2014

Set in London, HOPEFUL is about Ava and Joel, two friends from university who become study partners and lovers. There’s a lot of emotion in the book, which is told in first-person from Ava’s point of view. Louise Bay has applied the technique of flashbacks to document two different stories of Ava and Joel’s relationship, but has taken the technique in a unique direction by telling both stories simultaneously. Both stories interrelate and a give the reader a clear picture of what makes this couple tick, but the real allure is the smoothness of the writing. The storyline moves backwards and forwards seamlessly and the reader will have no issues with the change in the timeline. A truly difficult technique that Louise Bay has executed well.

With the exceptional writing, a plausible plot and entertaining supporting characters, HOPEFUL is enjoyable from start to finish. The uncertainties and passion of a first love are the story here and will keep you reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing love story! 9 September 2014

It’s so refreshing to read a different book and by different I mean no CEO with dark past.
I really want to read this book because Louise Bay posts these amazing teasers and I really can’t wait to reading it.
I’ve read it on two days and I really love it! It’s a sweet love story between Ava and Joel, the book is developed between the present and the past and this is amazing because it makes you keep reading until you know what really happened.
A very well written plot and amazing characters, not only Joel and Ava, you can enjoy too the rest of their gang.
I always look for love stories and this is definitely one of my favorites, it make me laugh, make me hate some characters, cry at the end because the love between Joel and Ava is infinite.
Joel always loves Ava and he was her thunderbolt.
Louise I’m looking forward your next book, and thanks again for Hopeful!
