At the range or on the hunt, the Howard Leight by Honeywell Impact Sport Sound Amplification Electronic Earmuff keeps you protected from hazardous noise and connected to your environment. It carries a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 22 in both on and off mode. When the electronic ear protection is switched on, it employs built-in directional microphones that amplify ambient sounds to a safe 82 dB. This allows you to hear important commands on the range and crucial environment sounds when hunting. For additional shooting hearing protection, it also actively listens and automatically shuts off amplification when loud impulsive sounds like firearm discharges reach 82 dB. Patented Air Flow Control technology allows for a slim earcup design that ensures your firearm stock has clearance while shooting. The padded headband features telescopic height adjustment for a comfortable, customized fit. An external audio jack lets you connect the earmuff to an MP3 player, scanner or other audio source. The battery delivers approximately 350 hours of usage, and the automatic shut-off feature engages after 4 hours to help save battery life. All Howard Leight earmuffs and safety eyewear are compatible for use with each other.

The Impact Sport Sound Amplification Electronic Earmuff offers the ultimate in safety and ear protection. The safety is delivered through distortion-free amplification (up to a safe 82 dB) of important low level sounds like range commands and conversation. The protection comes from instant blocking of any noise above 82 dB.

Designed for use at the range or in the field, this earmuff also features low profile earcups that won't interfere with when aiming. Plastics quality is cheaper than original olive green.

I was drawn to the lower price for a third pair of muffs for when I bring friends to the range. I started wearing this pair at work actually. I like the punch of colour, but I can see where the tradeoff was made for price. The plastics do feel cheaper, and the volume amplification dial is looser but acceptable relative to my olive green pair. I don't think this pair could take as much of a beating as my other one.

Buy the green one if you care about plastic quality. Still, if you have do want a shot of colour and don't want to paint yours, these do work fine.

I've own high dollar ear pro and for the first time, I spent less...I purchased these...and instantly regretted it. I tried another brand of lower cost ear pro and was impressed. I figured I might give these a shot and here's what I learned...
Noise: It doesnt cut out any noise...nothing...nada. Gunshots...if the volume is up, you hear them. No cut out. If the volume is way up...your ears bleed. It's painful. It amplifies wonderfully...too good.
Fit: As with the rest of the reviews...the fit leaves much to be desired. The ears do NOT conform to the head or ears at towards the bottom. Big gaps...I find myself constantly pulling them down or pushing them flat against my head. I might as well just poke my fingers in my ears.
Customer Service: Nothing so far. An email to the company has produced no response.
So, I find myself with money wasted...and a pair of new ears...that I'll likely toss in the dumpster as they cant be safely work by anyone.

Not Happy! No protection.

Really wanted to like these but they simply didn't work. We're talking about protecting your hearing - a big deal! There is a feature that let's you hear ambient sounds like voices - got high frequency feedback instead and it actually amplifies the sound around you. Not good at a gun range! Thankfully I had $3.00 foam ear plugs which were higher rated than these.

Even with the ambient sound feature turned off, they do not provide any protection at an indoor range. A rating of 22 is simply too low and I question if it even provides that. Opt for 30 or higher if using at an indoor range. . I was also dissatisfied by the very cheap plastic used - it looked like a toy, nothing like the photo. The fit was extremely tight, like a vice. Very, very uncomfortable. It's also made in China not USA. The person with me had ear protection half the price, with higher quality fit and construction.

Protect your hearing! Keep looking for higher-rated protection and PASS on this one.
