I have read thousands of books..back to back ..but I haven't started another one for 24 hours! I need to savour the contents of this one.
This the third Kristen Hannah novel I have read and she is now one of my top 5 writers.
This novel is un-put-downable. I have not read a story like it before. It has made me think a great deal about our women who go to war ... I've read hundreds about MEN going to War.. This story is set in present times and is about a family...each member so perfectly described in every way that you feel as if you know them personally. It is a book about what happens in a family when a wife and mother goes to war, and the effect it has on everyone. I cried several times reading this book ...I was so impressed with the knowledge and compassion of this writer, it was as if she lived this experience ( she did not of course)
Do yourself a favour and read this beautiful novel featuring Joelene the Black Hawk Pilot and her beloved family, each one so believable !
But I could have happily slapped the selfish, rude , disrespectful 12 year old daughter Bestsy....my lovely daughters never spoke to my husband and I like that..and their children don't speak to them like that either. Is this a sign of the times? where you can't say NO to children , or expect respect ?
