There's a lot going on in this, the third instalment of the Nevermoor series, but it holds itself together wonderfully, and leaves you wanting to keep turning the pages to find out what happens next!
I particularly enjoyed being able to spend more time in the Hotel Deucalion and was delighted that fenestra got some more time in the spotlight.
The theme is a heavy one though, so be prepared to feel the hurt and frustration of what happens when fear and prejudice take hold.

Brilliant series. Best children's story since Harry Potter. The characters and the land of Nevermoor are superbly realised, described and totally engaging.
I personally love Jupiter and Morrigan's relationship.
Try it for yourself.

Fast postage and as described. If you're a Nevermore fan (or have them in your life) this makes a great read for the 3rd installment.

This was another fabulous story in Morrigan Crow's life. I found the extension in her storyline fantastic and read this book very quickly, only to regret the end when it arrived.

Fantastic Finish to the Trilogy - Hoping for More! (Imogen age 10)
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 October 2020Verified Purchase
I loved the first two books in this series - you have to read those first - and this was even better. I read it in 3 days.
Morrigan faces yet more danger when a new disease (Hollowpox) infects the Wunimals in Nevermore. To save the day Morrigan has to join ranks with Ezra Squall and learn how to be a Wundersmith at last. Her character develops well and the actions is fast paced and imaginative.
I loved the illustrations at the start of each chapter. They really add to the atmosphere. When you take the dust jacket off the hard back book it looks magical.
I hope there is a fourth book.

Good, but not as brilliant as the first two books
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 December 2020Verified Purchase
The first two books were rather outstanding with a vivid language and several parallel side stories that intertwined. Morgan, the main character, was constantly wrestling with her emotions and what actions was right and wrong to do. For example, the extortion notes in the second book was a side track that constantly kept the reader on edge. Even if she would solve all the main issues she could still be doomed...
Unfortunately, after reading the first two books, the third doesn't meet the expectations. It has a rather linear story where a problem is solved. It is told in a straight-forward way. Especially, I miss that Morgan's inner moral compass doesn't get stressed in the same way and isn't handled with the same finesse as in previous books, where a lot was told "between the lines".
When reading, there are quite a few potential loose ends that you're looking forward to see how they are going to be wrapped up, but it doesn't happen. Maybe it is intentional and will make the next book much better. Still, I'm missing something in this one...

This book maintains the suspense right through to the end

This is the third book in the series, so I took a little time to get to grips with the characters. Recommend reading the first 2 books in order.
Hollowpox is a little too close to the pandemic we are having at the moment, so if your child is worried , perhaps this book should be read next year, not now. A quality book.

Absolutely brilliant 3rd book in series

I've been waiting keenly for the 3rd installment of Morrigan crow, her Wondersmith developments, the tales of her friends and family and Proudfoot House. Absolutely loved it (and I'm 40!) Shall wait to hear what my 10 year old son thinks of it now!
