Product Description

HOLLIE PORTER BUILDS A RAFT

Eliza Gordon

raft (noun): when two or more otters rest together,
often holding hands, so they don’t drift apart

Hollie Porter has put her old gig as a 911 operator and sad single girl in an attic-bound box, right where it belongs. She’s rebounded nicely from her run-in with Chloe the Cougar in the wilds of British Columbia, and this new life alongside concierge-in-shining-armor Ryan Fielding? Way more fun. After relocating to Ryan’s posh resort at Revelation Cove, Hollie embarks on an all-new adventure as the Cove’s wildlife experience educator, teaching guests and their kids about otters and orca and cougars, oh my!

When darling Ryan gets down on one NHL-damaged knee and pops the question of a lifetime, Hollie realizes this is where the real adventure begins. It’s all cake tasting, flower choosing, and dress fittings until a long-lost family member shows up at the Cove and threatens to hijack her shiny new life, forcing Hollie to redefine what family means to her. What is she willing to sacrifice to have one of her very own?

As Ryan’s words echo in her head—“Our raft, our rules”—Hollie has to face facts: a raft isn’t always tied together with blood and genetics. Sometimes it’s secured by love and loyalty… and occasional help from the clever creatures that call Revelation Cove home.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just a touch too much....but so fun 1 February 2016

4.5 stars. If you read Must Love Otters, then this is definitely a must read! Since I finished reading that book, I've been hoping there'd be another book about Hollie and Ryan. Hollie Porter Builds a Raft is that second story and it certainly carries on in the same tradition.

Hollie and Ryan are fun characters that are deeply in love and they have a lot of love surrounding them with family and friends that work at the lodge. The big difference in this novel is that Hollie and Ryan are trying to plan a wedding amidst the running of the lodge and all the other things that go on in everyone's lives.

There are such heart tugging comments in this novel, like Ryan's “It’s our raft, Porter. We can do whatever we want. We just have to float together.” Who wouldn't love that? He's that big hunky guy with a soft, loving interior that is Hollie's Prince Charming.

Both of these books had plenty of laugh out loud moments, but about 2/3 of the way through, I was done with some of the constant mishaps. I think in an effort to be just as amusing as the first book, the authors just took it a step too far. Yes, I loved this book, but I was just over it at that point. Would I read another Hollie Porter novel? Probably. Will I check out more books by these authors? Yes.

4.0 out of 5 stars This story was a follow-up to Must Love Otters, and what can I say 10 October 2015

This story was a follow-up to Must Love Otters, and what can I say, I LOVED it! I enjoyed the authors writing style and her sense of humor. If it wasn't for bad luck, poor Hollie Porter wouldn't have any luck at all! But with Ryan Fielding as your boyfriend, who needs anything else. Seriously, I love him! This story doesn't have too many complicated and deep issues for you to mull over, but seriously, I need a break from that from time to time. This was a lot of fun to read, I really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it!

Have you ever finished a book...sad it was over...but with so much happiness in your heart and head you have a happiness hangover? Hollie Porter Builds a Raft by Eliza Gordon did that for me. About 48 hours later I am still smiling:-)
This book is flawlessly written with words that stay in your mind. Eliza Gordon gives us loveable characters, so well portrayed they seem like real people. Clever and thought provoking plot development bring you front and center into the lives of Hollie and *swoon* Ryan. Their first book is Must Love Otters. You will want to read that one first. Then move right on into Hollie Porter Builds a Raft. I'm still smiling. Do not deprive yourself of this happiness. All I can ask for now is... more, please.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliantly hilarious as always 18 December 2015

Poor Hollie she really does find herself in well the only way I can describe them is typical Hollie situations that really make us laugh but also hug her.

I love reading about Hollie and concierge Ryan they are a real couple with a real life they work hard for a living and don't just sit back and let the workers do all the work. They really are soul mates and belong together.

I also love the supporting characters in this book. I think Hollie's dad and Ryan's mum need to hook up can we have that book please.
5.0 out of 5 stars Weddings, Evil Goats, Shenanigans, and of course, Otters! 1 March 2016

I had no idea that a sequel to "Must Love Otters" had been released and I was so excited to see this book! The sequel is just as good as the first book, which is also a 5 star read! I wish Hollie Porter was a real person because she could be my best friend. This is one of the most likable, yet real characters that I've ever read. The story line is fun, yet keeps you reading. The voice of this character is unique and fun. Read "Must Love Otters" and then purchase this book! And cancel your plans for the weekend!! I'm anxiously awaiting a third book!
