I used the Titan Tools 16018 18 inch Quick Release Extension Bit Holder
More than enough to get the corners of the shower.
For a bathroom cleanup, I would opt for this before running out and buying one of every bathroom cleaner known to man, it's much cheaper in the long run. None of the products in the bathroom cleaner aisle magically remove anything. (I have seen some folks in forums mention fume-free oven cleaner as a hands-free bathtub cleaner; that's one thing I didn't try. I definitely would not do it in combination with a drill brush slinging product everywhere.) With the drill brushes in the bathroom, I ended up using a Dawn/vinegar/water mix or Bar Keeper's Friend powder for the worst areas. Be careful with bleach products as bristles rotating at high speed can sling product in places you weren't planning for it to go; with any product I'd recommend eye protection.
If you have a particularly bad cleanup ahead of you or plan to use drill brushes regularly, I'd recommend a corded drill, which you'll notice many of the detailers/pros using when you search for videos of these in action. Turning these big attachments just ate through the batteries on the 20 volt drill I nominated for this project (admittedly Ni-Cad, but still).
I suspect these drill brushes are all being cranked out of the same factory in the People's Republic; I wouldn't waste money on a "name brand" here. With the extension attachment, this was the best deal I found for a set after scouring the usual online sources. From all my searching, it appears that different brush colors denote different stiffness of bristles. Yellow brushes are supposedly for bathroom/tile/porcelain, white for upholstery, black for heavy-duty outdoor-type cleaning.
4 stars; knocking a star off because I noticed some wear to the brushes and lost a few bristles along the way during this first bathroom cleanup.
I switched the head and add the extension, that thing is so unbalanced it’s ridiculous
These made very easy work of some pretty nasty carpet and floormats. I used Chemical Guys' citrus upholstery shampoo with these and it honestly made a humongous difference.
Just knowing that I don't have to spend hours scrubbing by hand is a huge plus for me. Hook these into a drill and you are going to be done lightyears faster! I used the lower speed setting on my Ryobi as the faster speed was working a little too good-it would sling stuff everywhere. Slowed it down and way more controllable and the results were way better than expected.
The bristles held up just fine. No stray bristles anywhere and they were just stiff enough to dig out the dirt and grime while actually helping to reset the nap on my girlfriends' floormats. They look brand new!
The extension really comes in handy when doing under the seats and in the corners of the floorboard. Real handy!
It normally would take me about 4 hours to do my Hyundai by hand. This kit helped me knock it out in just over an hour. And it looks so much better.
Don't let the price fool you, please. I know there are more expensive and bigger-named brush sets out there. This set works and it works extremely well. And this is from a non-professional who is simply a conscientious owner who likes a clean interior.
I don't necessarily blame the brush though, we suffer from hard water with specifically iron which causes a lot of red stains. Using a sponge with a scrubber on it manually did a better job than using this drill brush. However if you have normal water I don't foresee this being an issue; otherwise I would have likely given this a better rating.
Update: Initially gave this a 3 star going to bump it to a 4. I bought both the yellow (medium) and yellow (soft) bristle brushes. Although the medium didn't meet my expectations, the soft did. I used it in my car to get some stubborn stains out (used a bissell proheat to extract the cleaning solution). The soft bristle brush really helped agitated some set in stains, perfect for any DIY detailer.
This actually did not work very well at getting into the cracks of the white tile in the grout. There are others who have pictures of it working but perhaps their group gaps are wider and mine is pretty tight. I used the proper bleaching spray and let them sit and went to town at multiple angles and it does not get everything out. Tried all3 types of the brush heads and couldn't get everything clean. Otherwise it is a great dies for a product and saved the elbow grease I would have needed to use for a majority of the cleaning.
