Product Description

Sixteen-year-old Jules Verity knows exactly what's in store at her new job at castle-turned-dinner-theater Tudor Times. Some extra cash, wearing a fancy-pants dress, and plenty of time to secretly drool over the ever-so-tasty-and completely unavailable-Grayson Chandler. Except that it's not quite what she imagined.

For one, the costume Jules has to wear is awful. Then there's the dead body she finds that just kind of...well, disappears. Oh, and there's the small issue of Jules and her episodes of what her best friend calls "Psychic Tourette's Syndrome"-spontaneous and uncontrollable outbursts of seemingly absurd prophecies.

The only bright side? This whole dead body thing seems to have gotten Grayson's attention. Except that the more Jules investigates, the more she discovers that Grayson's interest might not be as courtly as she thought. In fact, it's starting to look suspicious...

I received a free copy from Entangled Teen in exchange for an honest review

This was a really fun and captivating read. From the moment I started it, the quirky fun tone grabbed me straight away and immediately I was interesting on see what would happen.

I really liked the main character Jules, she was spunky and smart and I enjoyed reading her view of the events. The mystery itself was also captivating and compelling. I was guessing all the way through and trying to decipher Jules' psychic Tourette's Syndrome to work out who had done what and I thoroughly enjoyed the journey.

I also like the way the romantic storyline weaved through they main mystery storyline. I did guess a little early on how it would pan out however that didn't detract at all from the enjoyment of reading the journey to get there.

I loved the community of characters that Ms held created, each of them were distinct, colourful, intriguing an interesting from Jules' eccentric grandma, to her more serious mother, the dramatic Cami, Hank Bacon (King Henry). I wanted to learn and read more about all these characters and read more stories in this with these characters.

This book appears to be a stand alone but I really would love to read more adventures with these characters and this community whether it be more adventures of Jules on the job as the maid of Kent, Hank Bacon and Jules' mother or Cami or Bree. I really enjoyed reading about all these characters and would love to visit them again.

A disappearing dead body, a psychic nun, a castle and a whole lot of fun. How could you not want to read this book.

I loved it and gave it 4 stars

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

The women in Jules family have the gift of sight. For Jules this manifests with what she calls "psychic Tourette's syndrome". She randomly blurts out prophesies in the form of sentences that seem to make no sense. At least not at the time.

When Jules lands a job playing a psychic at a local castle she stumbles across a dead body while trying to hide from her childhood crush. The dead body promptly goes missing and the mystery begins.

This story is a fun, quirky, teenage mystery with a little romance thrown in. Lunewood Castle is a great setting with its secret passageways, pretty costumes, dinner theatre and array of interesting employees.

I loved the way this story is written. There is lots of conversation and action, there is always something going on. I had a blast reading Holding Court. It is a great G rated read for teens and adults alike.

I love this book.
Jules Verity is a teenager who has a unique problem: Psychic Tourette's Syndrome (as her best friend calls it). She has a tendency to blurt out cryptic comments at the most embarrassing moments, and if people would only pay attention.... But she's finally found a job where her affliction can pay off, playing the Mad Nun of Kent at a medieval recreationist resort. Unfortunately, her current heartthrob also works there, and so does his girlfriend, who is so perfect Jules can't even hate her properly. And life becomes even more complicated when she finds a body in a hidden passage--and then it disappears.

These characters are terrific, and I really hope we see more of them very soon. This book is funny, sweet, and a great getaway from Life As We Know It.

I seriously loved this book. It was so well-written, with a funny, relatable heroine, and a wonderful cast of warm, interesting and eccentric characters.

Jules comes from a long line of ancestors gifted with magical abilities--including her mother and grandmother. Her gift is more of an embarrassment (so far) than an ability, but in the course of the book she learns to embrace it and even to start to wield it.

She lands a summer job at the local renaissance faire-type place, set in an honest-to-God Tudor castle. Then she finds out her secret crush, Grayson, is working there, too. Then she finds the dead body...

A mystery, a love story, a coming-into-her-power story...whatever you want to call it, I absolutely loved it! (Wait, I think I said that I loved it already. Well never mind, because I DID and I think you will, too!)
4.0 out of 5 stars Just what I was after! 24 May 2016

A light, fun read was just what I was after and it delivered in heaping handfuls. The Tudor Re-enactment Castle provides a fun backdrop for a YA murder mystery with a paranormal tang, without being all dark and grim. Jules Verity is perhaps a shade *too* self-deprecating, but I suppose with an awkward blurting disorder where she makes sudden, strange (and psychic) pronouncements, some self esteem issues are to be expected. Between her peculiar predictions, a vanishing corpse and teenaged unrequited love, it's a very entertaining ride.
