This is a debut novel for Kimberly Blalock and I must say it totally surprised me. The twists and secrets that this book had was really quite intricate but not in a way that dragged you down or frustrated you. I did find the first couple of chapters a bit slow but then after the nightclub scenes the story finds its legs and we are off and running. The secrets and layers of characters were built in a way that kept you entertained and wanting to know how they all were going to meld together.

Evan and Abby light up the pages, their connection and sexual experiences were well written and had emotion and a caring and nurturing component. I adored how Abby's relationship with her parents strengthened throughout this book and I came to love them immensely by the end.

The hospital scenes were excellent in fact and how they were put together, I was on the edge of my seat with some of the traumatic sections with the characters and it makes sense when I read Kimberly's profile that she obviously knew what she was talking about.

Now I cannot go into the storyline too much as I do not want to ruin any of the surprises and let me tell you there are many and we get answers in the first book of the Trilogy which is great as you know some Trilogys you get nothing till book three, well Kimberly does not make us wait - so thanks and well played.

Will I be continuing on to join the characters in book two - hell yes I will be - I think things are only going to get hotter, more mind twisting and I need some fairness brought back into their lives.

I want Abby's heart to be healed and I want her to think she is worthy of happiness and love and let the guilt go.

5.0 out of 5 stars Evan is pure kryptonite! 1 January 2015
By TNT Reviews - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Abigale (Abby) and Addyson (Addie) are twin sisters with both parents being successful surgeons. Both girls are sort of expected to go into the medical field, which for Addie is no problem as she wants to find a cure for cancer ( bless her heart), but Abby has dreams of her own. She wants to become a writer.

One night all their hopes and dreams come to a crashing halt when the girls are involved in an accident, it ends tragically. Addie dies leaving Abby shattered and devastated. Abby can't face starting the medical program without her sister and finds herself an job as a "newbie" journalist, unknown to her parents. Abby's attitude saddens me though she feels her parents will disown her. I hurt for her parents, she shouldn't underestimate them.

Abby has also been dating Marco, a Brazilian, they were engaged actually. He leaves for Brazil and she hasn't heard a word from him in months! What a douche! He's a shady character if you ask me, hell's bells, who just up and leaves his fiance and never makes contacts!? Good riddance I say!

Abby's life isn't all doom and gloom though. Her bestie, Amy, is coming home from school. Amy is a real live wire and brings Abby out of her shell a bit. She's a good friend and very patient and understanding. Amy is dating a fellow named Dominic, and of course, he has a friend that's lonely and so they go on a "group date". Abby's life is about to change, drastically, when her path crosses with Evan!

Hell's bells! Evan is pure kryptonite! A delicious speciMAN! "......lean and muscular....Dark, unforgiving tousled hair .....bright blue eyes .....dimples on either side of his cheeks......perfect amount of dark stubble....fabulously hard muscles pulsing ....round bottom and thick muscular thighs". OMW! This man is a god! As if he hasn't won me over already, he seals the deal when he comes to her rescue when she attracts some unwanted attention from a real ass!

Evan has the upper hand though knowing more of Abby than she does of him and also he's had feelings for much longer. He has secrets that could break Abby in more ways than one.

Evan takes control in so many ways, and the first time he ties Abby up, I feel like I'm intruding on their very intimate and private moment. Yes, there is pleasure, but for me it was so much more. By Abby giving her control to Evan, it felt like she was letting go and learning to heal and trust. Evan may be a hunk and a hulk of a man but he has a soft, compassionate, patient, and loving heart when it comes to Abby. I find myself both crying and laughing, crying because what they have is so real, raw, and honest, and I'm laughing because trust me to reach for the Kleenex while there's passion and erotic scenes going on!

Secrets have a way of catching up to you. Evan and Abby have made mistakes along the way, but they belong together, they're soul mates with an undeniable chemistry that's been there from the very beginning!

A very tragic incident takes place and very nearly rips Evan and Abby apart. It was no accident that's for sure, and I've my suspicions as to who the culprit is.

The last few chapters render me an emotional cripple! I can't wait for the next installment!

Another shout from the rooftops 5 bomb read!

☆☆☆3 Hooked Stars ☆☆☆

His Angel is a story about a girl who is working to overcome the trauma of a car accident that killed her twin sister and now her fiancé has left her. She meets a sexy new guy and bam they fall in love... but Evan has secrets. Stop me if you've heard this before. But honestly the first... um... 75% of this book is boring and predictable and just got old. It felt repetitive and almost unnecessary. Its a good love story, and while the first part of this book didn't appeal to me, it may appeal to the fifty shades fan base. The last say 25% was intriguing and worth reading, but I was almost pissed that I had to sit through the dribble at the beginning. Sadly, I wouldn't recommend this book based on the first 3/4, maybe jump to the end and hope book 2 is better?

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot, Steamy, Suspenseful, Sexy! 25 April 2015

I received this book from the author in return for a fair and honest review.

Abby has had a horrible life so far. She holds herself accountable for her sister’s death. She is surrounded by a cloud of depression that weighs her down every minute of every day. Her Dad is pushing her to live the life that her sister would have; to become a surgeon. All she wants to do is become a writer. Enter Evan, a perfect human being to Abby, which has her questioning everything in her life and what really makes her happy. He has her opening her heart to love again. Who will get in their way? Can Abby or Evan withstand the future that is waiting for them?

Oh my goodness. Kimberly Blalock, you write one heck of a story!! I surged through so many emotions while reading this book, I couldn't figure out what to feel. My heart was breaking constantly for Abby, then for Evan as we learned his story. I gasped, I sighed, I awed, and I laughed during this story. This story is full of emotional turmoil for both Abby and Evan and the story wouldn't have the full affect that it does on you without it. Even though there are numerous heartbreaking scenes there are even more that will leave you wanting a cold shower. This author knows how to write sexy scenes to leave the reader breathing heavy and thinking WOAH!

I recommend this book to you without a doubt in my mind. You might have to slip on your big girl or big boy britches to get through some special scenes but it is worth it. Trust me, take the leap, and start reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Start... 7 January 2015

I received this book in exchange for an honest review...
At the beginning I tried to stay positive and really dive in...the flow is a bit off at first and it was a bit slow connecting to these characters
and if I'm being completely honest ..when she gets a mysterious text and ignores it ...I found that strange?
But I'm glad I stuck with it cause it turned out to be a great story ...The backstory for these charters is developed well and The storyline is a good one and towards to middle of the book it really picks up ..I can see potential for more great books to come from this author...It's a good first debut novel.

4.0 out of 5 stars 4½ AMAZING STARS! 26 April 2015
By Revenge of the Feels - Published on
This is the one book that I have been wanting to get my hands on way before its release! The synopsis itself makes me wonder just how much pain and suffering Abigale Hayes went through if the secret Evan holds could destroy her!

Can I just say, His Angel is one of those novel that will make you cry, cry and more crying at the end?

(I’m aware that sentence doesn’t make much sense but that’s what happened to me…*wails*)

Oh god, the pain Abigale goes through is just too much. She makes me feel so much and that doesn’t usually happen to me. She is so broken inside but no one sees it and it just pains me to see how she is able to hold up the façade!

Of course, that’s where dear hotness-god Evan Young comes in. They’re both attracted to each other and OH. MY. GOD. THEIR. BANTER. IS. MY. LIFE.

Literally. His Angel is just too much for me to do anything else except to continue reading!

I want to punch something.

One of my favourite quote from Evan, “She is my Angel and this is my heaven”.

THIS QUOTE MAKES ME WANT TO CRY. Even more so at the ending…

Highly recommended for readers to get a box of tissues and some soft ground in case you want to roll over your feels after crying!

*Thank you to the author for giving me an eARC in exchange for a honest review.
