Before this book, I'd never read anything by this author but was very pleasantly surprised. Xkeptaver (love the name!) and Pippa's story kept me turning the pages, eager to find out more. I did find the many characters' names hard to stay on top of, though.
For me personally, Pippa's back story was as gritty and heartbreaking as it was gripping. My heart went out to her because she really is a sweetie and deserves far better. It was great to see Xaver losing control of his carefully engineered barriers through which he kept all his lady friends at bay. I thought Pippa's friends could be a little heavy-handed in their protection of her. Jenna and Justice worked on my last nerve and to be frank, I would've dropped them.
Can't wait to read the next and final book, in which I'm sure we'll see Xaver become putty in Pippa's gorgeous hands and all other loose ends tied up. I'd particularly like to see Pippa find her mother and also meet Xaver's family. I wasn't at all happy about the cliffhanger, about which I'm almost certain there wasn't a warning. I much prefer to read books back to back rather than sit and wait for the next book because that means I have to go back and read the first one all over again.

It seems to be the typical BWWM Billionaire book. However, it's not. Xaver appears to be the rude, arrogant billionaire who says what he wants to whom he wants. Pippa appears to be the strong black woman who's had a horrendous life. It's lust at first sight. However, we find it more than that for both. They both have very good friends so understand them. Pippa's friends are more protective of her. As are his relatives and Alphonso, his driver.
There's plenty of back story for both, which is unusual. The plot is not as well developed as the characters. The story deals with their emerging feelings for each other. Her friends think that Xaver will use her and throw her away. He intends to do just that it, so he thinks. Xaver is a really caring boss but most people only see his ruthlessness. Pippa is damaged by her past and her feelings are locked down. Surprisingly, they finally reveal their deepest secrets to each other.
As long as this book is, it ends abruptly with unanswered questions. What was the secret that Xaver's dead fiancee's sister longs to tell him? He thinks his dead fiancee is perfect until he remembers how she didn't get along with most people. Why did Xaver present as thuggish when he was raised in a middle class household with parents who have him money to start his business? He loves his parents and are close to them but we never really meet them.
The dual point of view is awkwardly written and often repeats itself. Are the questions answered in the second book and is it worth purchasing?
This story is nothing short of amazing. I don't even know where to begin. Pippa travels for to NYC after her adopter mom has died but not before her stepfather abuses her and show her what he's really made of while she meets the sex CEO Xaver of Sayle Corporation and boy does he give her a run for her money!!!!
I love that this first half of Pippa and Xavier's story brings up all their history. This story truly has the outlines for a great romance. Although a lot of their issues and concerns could have been worked out by communicating...we all know that seems to be the biggest issue with all romance novels and humans in general. I feel that Xavier has grown, but we have yet to see Pippa truly grow. While we are ble to read from each others perspectives, Pippa still seems a little more closed off, is this an issue of her past, or is this an issue of her fear of the future? Hopefully we'll have those answers and see Pippa grow in the next half.
Engaging story line. I was so engrossed in the characters and their story that I'm failed to realize book one had ended on a cliff hanger. Thankfully I only have to wait a couple of months for book two. It is such a good read that it will be worth the wait.
Fantabulous! Definitely a page turner... My first book from Ms Jesdiqua and not the last. I could hardly out it down. I felt Pippa's pain, but that girl don't want anybody's pity... She may be down, but she is not defeated... The journey of Poppa and Xaver will keep you enthralled... Stay tune, and enjoy!
I love the character development. This author let's the reader really get to know the Pippa and Xaver, the main characters with enough information on their friends to let the reader feel as if they know them. Despite being strong both main characters are also insecure which characters is refreshing. I like this storyline and look forward to the next installment.
I’ve got a feeling I tell you but don’t want to spoil it for you guys... one thing for Xavier and Pippa have the makings of a great love story! Can’t wait till February 2019, gotta hate cliffhangers - I could finish this whole story today.
I loved this book, but I almost stopped reading because of the fear to talk to each other and the misunderstandings from assumptions. Yet, this was somewhat relatable, considering the initial nature of their relationship.
