According to my vet and every other legitimate source I've read/heard, it's important to have a good ratio of these things (for instance Royal Canin: 54P 32F 14C or Best Feline Friends (B.F.F.): 69P 29F 2C*), and Science Diet simply doesn't- relative to other brands. Considering this brand among others has no lower than 20% carbs (and up to 33%- a max carb load only beaten by Friskies' 36%)*, even in WET food, I can understand how common cats' urinary and diabetic issues are.
If you are looking for the healthiest thing for your cat at around $0.20/oz (the cost of this product), this just isn't the best choice. I used it for about 3 years, and I finally saw the light. This stuff is not terrible, and I don't think my cats HATED it, but the fact is that there are much better options out there for the price and nutrition.

I noticed the color of the can went from usual silver to light goldfish color. I wonder if they chose a different facility to make their stinky mesh of god knows what went in there this time around. I immediately noticed the smell of the chicken was different then in the past, and Oh boy does it stink like garbage. I ended up having about 40 cans that our cats wouldn't even smell it anymore so I donated to a shelter because I'm pretty sure some cats probably wont mind.
I also don't understand why they use Port products in every flavor like I had no idea they were throwing pork in chicken flavor...so why even call it chicken? I don't know if the previous Chicken flavors had pork in them so maybe that's what changed? I never seen any other brand use pork in their cat food. Shame on you!!!!!!!!!!!!! Disgusting!!!!!!!!
I thought spending more money on science diet (and it being a food many vets recommend and sell in their offices) would mean I was doing the best I could for my pets and getting better ingredients, I was wrong! After looking at the much shorter ingredient list in the gravy types of foods that are HALF the cost I am switching today! One of the more popular grocery store brands is worlds cleaner than this. I feel guilty I didn't look into their food ingredients sooner. Hopefully now I save some money and have happier healthier cats!
I will try to update on the status of my kitty's crying and vomiting after making the switch.
I thought I would mix the dry (Science Diet Adult Indoor Cat) food with this to move her from wet to dry food.
But when I stopped mixing it, she ate the Science Diet Adult Indoor Dry Cat Food, right from the jump.
But she does not like this canned food at all.
-I'm sure it's a very good cat food, and I would (also) recommend it ONLY if I could explain my experience with it.
-Just because my cat does not like it, does not mean anything, just that she does not like it. Remember she's running things now.
