Book 5 in Terry Spear's Highland Wolf Series

It's going to take a lot of mistletoe to warm this Highlander's heart
Guthrie MacNeill, financial advisor for his clan and werewolf pack, is at his wit's end when the pack leader's mate hires a gorgeous party planner to bring holiday cheer to the castle. Guthrie's wildly attracted to Calla, except he can't reconcile the fact that his job is to save the clan's money, and hers seems to be to spend it.

Calla Stewart has never had a more difficult client. The laird and lady of the castle are delightful, but the handsome Highlander holding the purse strings is quite impossible. Since she specializes in holiday magic, Calla hopes she can make the scrooge-like wolf lighten up. Then Guthrie takes on the role of Highland warrior to protect her from an unexpected threat, and the holidays take a turn for the passionate.

4.25 stars--A HIGHLAND WOLF CHRISTMAS is the fifteenth installment in Terry Spear’s contemporary, adult Heart of the Wolf paranormal romance series focusing on the shifter wolves of the Scottish Highlands. This is event planner Calla Stewart and financial advisor Guthrie MacNeill’s storyline, one that began in book fourteen –Hero of a Highland Wolf- where Calla ‘stole’ Guthrie’s boxer shorts and ran them up the flagpole. A HIGHLAND WOLF CHRISTMAS can be read as a stand alone storyline. Many of the previous storyline characters play secondary roles but any important information is revealed when and where necessary.

Told from third person point of view, the storyline focuses on the upcoming Christmas celebration. As the MacNeill Clan make preparations for the holidays, they bring in their friend and events coordinator Calla Stewart whose personal life is spiraling out of control. Having called off her wedding and mating to Baird McKinley, Calla finds herself being stalked by the very man from whom she left standing at the altar. Enter Guthrie MacNeill-the wolf who would steal her heart and become her mate-if only they survive the coming attacks.

The premise follows the building relationship between Calla and Guthrie but both are coming off of recent disastrous courtships with other wolves. Their attraction to one another is immediate but neither one wants to jump into another relationship fearing heartbreak and rebound emotions. While the preparations for the holidays get under way, Calla’s ex fiancé has plans of his own that involve getting Calla back-at any cost.

The world building continues using the backdrop of the Scottish Highlands and Argent Castle, as well as the continuing story of the MacNeill Wolf Pack and their growing family.

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit of darkness mars what would have been a fun holiday story 22 October 2014

I liked the first half of this, and the transition to the mating was better, but I didn't like part with the ex-fiancee at the end and how he was dealt with especially since after that we go to a lovely little Christmas celebration that I would have enjoyed more without that bit of darkness first. The last couple books in the series have been more on the okay side for me, even with kilted wolf shifters.
5.0 out of 5 stars Male werewolf finds a mate. 31 December 2015

Guthrie and Calla are destined to be together. She just ended her engagement to another werewolf because she found out what he was like and didn't want anything to do with him. Guthrie ended his engagement two years prior because he found out that she just wanted to make her ex boyfriend jealous. Calla 's boyfriend wants her because he spent the pack s money. They fight with the ex boyfriend and his family and end up killing them. They get married and have a great Christmas celebration. Great story.
5.0 out of 5 stars A great addition to the series! 30 November 2014

Ms Spear brings a conclusion to the MacNeill brother's story, this time with Guthrie. As with previous books, the same characters are woven throughout but the story concentrates on Guthrie and Calla Stewart. Old enemies lie in wait and the two destined to mate must face them if they have a chance for a future. This was a wonderful love story, Guthrie was charming and patient, yet the reader will be surprised when the wolf comes out to play. Calla is sweet, yet she has an inner strength that is just beginning to emerge. If you loved the first four in this series, you will not be disappointed.

Calla is a party planner with her own business. She narrowly gets away from Baird the alpha of another pack. He doesn't want to let her go and makes many attempts to get her back. Guthier is the financial officer of his pack. Calla finds out because of her family getting a loan from him, but he took the money from his pack and now he wants the money back. Calla and Guthier wind up mated. They need to straighten it all out and find a way to be happy in the pack.

I am a BIG fan of Terry Spear! Her books are fascinating, unique and keeps it more or less 'real'. She like to put twists and turns in them, she likes to have conflict which is good, no book should be a fairytale HEA! This book is Guthrie and Calla's story and i found it so intriguing I read it in 2 days. You can tell she puts heart and soul into her books. I wish I had her imagination! All her shifter books are fascinating. You won't be sorry!!
