4.5 Unexpected Stars!

"Unlike how a scab heals, or a scar fades, the absence of someone you love never disappears."
I am a fan of River Savage's MC books but I was a little unsure about this one, the synopsis sounded ok, but I do not think for a second it actually does the book justice. I was not expecting the book to have anywhere near as much depth as it did or to experience as many feelings as I did.
I honestly thought Hetch was going to be your typical Alpha-hole and whilst he definitely had moments there was so very much more to his character and the reasons why he behaved the way he did. My heart broke for him and the event that he experienced and consumes him so deeply. PTSD is a very real thing experienced by some of our finest officers and Savage portrayed its effects in an honest and heart wrenching way.
Liberty was also a pleasant surprise, I wasn't sure how I was going to react to her character, but I really liked her. She had a huge amount of love, compassion and empathy that she freely gave to everyone including Hetch. She was a lovely mix of strong, sweet, stubborn and kind.
I also really enjoyed the secondary characters, particularly Mitch he was such a sweet kid and a wonderful addition to the story, his character opened up a whole other side of Hetch and I enjoyed their brotherly style relationship as it developed.
This book was definitely an emotional journey that took me on a roller-coaster emotionally but left my heart full and happy at the end.

The darkness seems a little less dark, the pain a little more manageable, and the clutter... the clutter fades and what's left behind is the beauty of the moment. So yes, I know it's soon. But you're mine, and I'm not letting you go ever again."

This book is so boring and the storyline reallg goes no where. Thd characters are two dimensional and I wish I hadn't wasted my time reading the book though to the end hoping the storyline would pick up.

This is a fabulous riveting start to a new exciting series. I loved the main characters Hetch, & Liberty, they were strong, witty, determined, and at time fragile. Hetch especially is the sum of his tragic experiences, and I loved the contrast between the darker side of Hetch. An Alpha male who is not always perfect, not always knowing the best way to move forward, yet one who does seek help. I think the author treated the subject of depression, suicide and grief very well (spoiler alert, sorry). And it is Hetch's strength of character that shines through. Liberty is alo a strong sassy independent woman, and at times this story is really quite funny, though I wouldn't have liked to meet my prospective in-laws the way Liberty did! The secondary characters are also very interesting, oh the stories they can tell... on that note, can't wait for the next in this series. I'll be sure to one-click them straight up. A wonderful book, one I'm sure I'll be re-reading many times. Thank you Ms Savage for the lack of corniness that some stories have. This is a bold, fun, sexy read. Enjoy!

I had high expectation from this author as I love the books in her MC series and thankfully I'm not disappointed, yay, a great start to a new series that I look forward to continuing! Secondary characters were great and we were given just enough info to leave me wanting more from them!
Wow that cover, I do love a hot cover but this one is AMAZING!!!!! thankfully the story inside does it justice.
Lots of sensitive issues that I feel the author covered well.
Bring on the next one!!!!
