Once again Pippa Grant has nailed it. Rhett and Eloise's story had me laughing, swooning and fanning myself in equal measure. I think I have a favourite of Pippa's books and then she releases another one, and bam - new favourite. I love all of her heroes but I think Rhett is my all time favourite so far.
Rhett, a Navy Seal forced to remain stateside working in a recruiting office after a mission gone wrong, is one of Parker brothers (Stud in the Stacks). Rhett is biding his time until he is allowed to return to his career of being a hero and saving the world.
Eloise is a prickly, irreverent, madcap woman whose outrageous behaviour ensures people can't get close enough to hurt her. A friend of Sia, Parker, Willow and crew and the drummer in their band, she is also a brilliant hacker, putting her skills to use to cause trouble for those who prey on the vulnerable in a vigilante mission to right the wrongs others can't. A moral crusader behind the scenes. In her most recent endeavour, she unwittingly targets a much bigger fish than she bargained for and puts her own life, and those of the people around her at risk as the bad guy retaliates.
After a steamy encounter at Parker and Knox's wedding reception, Eloise thinks she won't have to see Rhett again even though he is her fiend's brother, expecting him to return to his "backwoods secret military location". Instead, she finds him attending book club. After she's late to a band performance, her friends become worried she's in trouble and ask Rhett to check on her.
Hilarious shenanigans, ensue as Rhett and Eloise's attraction heats up, Rhett tries to keep Eloise safe while she refuses to tell him the truth about what she did, and the baddies get closer to finding her.
As always the story is full of characters you just love, seriously hot times, and all of the feels leaving you with a smile on your face and a new book boyfriend you just want for yourself.
I definitely recommend reading The Hero and the Hacktivist. Whilst it is stand alone, if you haven't already read the rest of Pippa's books, I recommend reading them from the beginning with Mr McHottie (Sia and Chase's book) for the usual reasons with a series and more importantly, just because they are seriously fantastic books. Can't wait for the next one.
