a few weeks while they find somewhere to live. At least, that is what Elliot is told! Things go downhill fast. His in-laws are the most obnoxious, rude, crude, disgusting people, to an, almost, unbelievable degree. This book is gripping, tense, hateful, stressful and many other things that we have come to expect from this author. It was a great book, and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys Mark Edwards style of writing. A real roller coaster ride. The reason I deducted one star is because I found some of it just a tad of a stretch. However, I didn't have time to think that while I was reading it, because I was engrossed. All in all. a great read!
A good thriller - such a roller coaster it does not matter about the occasional OTT bits.
There are crazy twists at every turn, and I confess to quite some stress and tension in my body as I read some of it, wondering what the direction would be next!
A twist near the end I didn't see coming, but the final chapter was expected, given what happened... well worth the read :)
There are 2 things that I want in a book. Firstly not wanting to put it down and secondly not wanting the book to end. This book met the criteria easily. I loved how he articulated the process of a seemingly intelligent good person loosing all sense of rational thinking to become caught up in the process of murder. I was in suspense until the last word.
PS after reading this book you will think twice about ever inviting your in-laws to stay!!

It's an appalling book, full of 'stock' characters that have escaped from a third rate sitcom, with a 'hero' so pathetically weak and the most unbelievable cliche 'baddies' .
At least the cat survived this drivel.
Brilliant and would recommend to anyone looking for a thrilling page turner.
However, I did find the end chapters a bit frenetic and, at times, a little unbelievable- ‘lost the plot’ comes to mind. Also some of the characters just faded off the scene. It seems that a sequel is needed to re-thread the loose ends and I look forward to reading it.
I kept reading as I used to like Mark Edwards' work , but this is the second disappointment in recent times. Sorry Mark you are off my author list.
The big mystery is how it has attracted so many 5 star reviews!!,
Absolutely brilliant. Well done Mark Edwards. Didn’t think you could write a better book than The Magpies but you have. Here to Stay had me gripped right from the beginning of the book.
Poor Elliot. Be careful who you fall in love with and remember to check out the in laws!
This book comes highly recommended as a fast paced psychological thriller.
