I really loved Laura Dave's book Eight Hundred Grapes. It just swept me away. I found the details in the story (about wine-making) fascinating which is sort of ironic because I don't drink wine! The title is based on the fact that it take eight hundred grapes for a bottle of wine.
I LIKED Hello Sunshine a lot, but didn't feel it was quite as good as Eight Hundred Grapes. The story to me seemed a bit unfinished when I got to the end of the book. I liked the character of Sunshine and wanted to see how she fared.
One special aspect of the author's books is that the characters are interesting but with realistic flaws. Her plots always have several major surprises and do not include some obvious conclusions.
I like that this was an insider's view of a show on the Food Network website...a show that is basically a cooking a lifestyle show with Sunshine as the host. She has become a major celebrity but her fame is based on packaging and not reality. When she is hacked and someone with inside knowledge reveals the deception, her world falls apart.
You'll find this book enjoyable and Sunshine a fun character.
