There's less abuse of the main character by her immediate family here so that's good but they abuse each other just as much as usual. The writing is up to Ms Chase's usual standards but the romance has no heat and the world she's building is just odd.
It was, to quote another reviewer, fine. I applaud the author for doing something different in terms of the threat in this installment; it was an interesting idea but lacked something that could have taken it from fine to fantastic. I think all of the regular characters made an appearance in the book though most were brief and featured characters more were subdued than normal which was unfortunate.
Love how Verity uses process of elimination to solve things. Enjoyed how much Neville enjoyed dog sitting. Good how well Verify works with other witches.
Loved getting the backstory to Eloise’s series. I sometimes question Eden’s priorities and sense of urgency, but I’m glad to see her grow and become more self aware.
