To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
They bent with ~300 lbs of weight on them. These may work for deer, goats, and sheep. They are too weak for large game. I tried to lift a cow using two (one on each leg) and they bent open dropping the cow before it was half off the ground.
I tried them again with a lighter weight in my cooler with beef 6ths (front leg, back leg, mid section), today I checked on them and after hanging a week one of them completely opened up dropping a mid section (~150 lbs) on the floor. (so I lowered my rating from 2 stars to 1 star)
If I hung a cord or chain onto the hook so there was no load near the end of the hook the decreased leverage would probably allow it to hold, but the point of a meat hook is to hook meat. I wouldn't trust these to hold over 80 lbs.
Exactly as described and then some. Very good quality and rigidity. Ive only used them once, while we were butchering hogs, to hang hams. The hams only weighed about 20-25 lbs but these hooks worked flawlessly. They are rated at 150lbs and I believe they will definately do that much and probley a bit more. They were very easy to clean and they were very well machined to the point of being very smooth and flawless in contsruction.
