Product Description

Kiki Michaelson wants one wild night to forget her starving-artist worries. Simple.

Only instead of Darren Cole becoming her one-night stand, he taunts her with a challenge. Then while she’s trying to best him at his own game, he turns out to be the last thing she’s prepared for: someone she wants to keep.

Which means all he can ever be…is a friend.

Darren Cole never allows a girl to get close—not close enough to matter.

Then storms in Kiki Michaelson, a beautiful, fearless temptation that rocks his world off-balance. But he fights their attraction, unwilling to gamble something physical with their close ties. Until the passionate sculptor exposes her heart and breaks his wide open.

In that moment it becomes clear: she could never be just a friend.

Sometimes what you run from…is exactly what you need.

***HEARTBREAKER is a standalone, full-length new adult romance told in dual POV. Due to mature themes and adult language, this book is for those 18 and older.***

Read On Behalf Of A Book Lover’s Emporium Book Blog

Where the hell have I been and why have I not read anything from these two? That’s about to change after reading Heartbreaker. I loved this book! It was extremely well written and I literally read it from start to finish. As a matter of fact, I stayed up until 5 am reading. I needed to know how Darren and Kiki’s love story was going to end!

I loved how this book was told from both Darren and Kiki’s point of view, alternating chapter to chapter. Brilliant. We knew what they were thinking and feeling from chapter to chapter. THANK GOD! Because there were moments I wanted to shake both of them and say “Look! Look what is right there in front of you!” Ahhhh the torture. But that’s what makes a romance gripping, right? Trust me, I was gripped!

God I love Darren so much. He’s a protector and such a good guy. He’d do anything for the ones he loves. He’s sexy and super sweet. And he’s hilarious. What more could you want in a book boyfriend?! He checks off all the boxes! I need him in my life!

I was cheering for Darren and Kiki from the beginning. Even though they fought their undeniable attraction, I just knew they HAD to be together. Just had to! Wow. Every time they were together I could feel the chemistry! I’m pretty sure I witnessed sparks flying from my kindle. And the sparks hit me in all the right places! **fans self** So when things FINALLY picked up with these two. Whoa. Let me just say, I felt hot all over. I adore these two!

Heartbreaker is a wonderful story that captivated me from beginning to end. I felt heartbreak and heart ache. It was funny and entertaining. Passionate and sexy. I fell in love with Darren and Kiki and the authors. Heartbreaker is an immensely beautiful story about giving yourself to someone you love, as long as YOU are whole and happy. And I was oh, so happy with this amazing book

4.0 out of 5 stars A chance at happiness... 22 December 2016

I liked the premise of this story of two people who are attracted towards the other but will not act on that attraction for their own tragic, personal reasons. I liked Kiki Michaelson up until she began groveling and throwing herself at Darren Cole...the object of her desire. I dunno, I'm just not drawn to women who lower themselves to chasing after guys who aren't interested in them...or act like they're not interested, yet the woman persists. They quickly lose my respect. Kiki is gorgeous with her long, curly black hair and electric blue eyes framed by thick black lashes. She always has a ready smile. She comes across as strong but her vulnerability and painful past is hidden behind her bravado. I began liking Kiki again, when she stopped groveling around Darren...when her strength(s) began to bloom.

I liked and appreciated the slow boil that built between Kiki and Darren. I mean, it wasn't until 60% into the story before they even kissed for the first time! And while that might seem too slow for some readers, it worked in this instance. I love erotica, but this was just refreshing. That is, establishing boundaries and letting a friendship grow naturally into more. Their flirtatious banter was fun to read. I liked how Darren Cole politely turns Kiki down when she first propositions him, even though he wants her too. He stays true to his personal responsibilities. I grew to love this guy, even though some of his actions were sophomoric. That is, dredging up excuses to be around Kiki all the time...torturing himself, when he knows he cannot follow through. He dances around this girl who is forbidden to him...yet he continues to tempt himself.

Character details trickle in as you read. There are no ages given until ch. 22...half way through the book. I was left muddling through this story wondering how old our protagonists were...distracting my reading and slowing me down. Hate that. In the end, I grew to love both main characters. I loved how guarded and cautious Darren was, but for different reasons. Just like Kiki, he stops people from getting too close to him...he doesn't let anyone in his world or near his heart. The downside is that there was no turmoil or controversy until the last few chapters. There was no angst or drama and then kaBAM...tragedy hits and then things get worked out and then the story is over. This was a good story told very well. No editing issues...minimal adult language and love scenes are portrayed maturely with lots of steam. They never overpower the plot.
5.0 out of 5 stars Another Hit Series From Kat & Stone... 23 March 2016

Katherine “Kiki” Michaelson knows what it’s like to have a broken heart. Now she plays it safe by keeping everyone at arms length and never letting them get too close.

Then there’s Darren Cole. Even though Kiki knows that he’s the one guy that she shouldn’t get involved with – she was never really big on taking advice.

Darren keeps his private life well under wraps and for good reason. Kiki has always been a temptation that he could never afford. But it’s getting harder and harder to not reach out and take what he wants. She’s the one that would be his greatest joy or his biggest regret. And together, they are going to find out which one.

It’s no secret that I’m a wild fan of anything created by Kat & Stone – and Heartbreaker is yet another sensational reason why. They have once again combined humour, heartache and triumph together with their unforgettable characters and plenty of signature Bastion heat to serve up one seriously captivating read!

You’ll laugh out loud, you’ll swoon and you’ll become a full-fledged member of the Michaelson family…

5.0 out of 5 stars first in a new series but featuring the same family from the No Weddings/Invitation Only novels. 28 March 2016

Heartbreaker,  Kat Bastion with Stone Bastion

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre:   Romance, New Adult.

When you read a lot as I do, you start to notice some authors have a distinct pattern to their writing – when that coincides with what you want to read, as with this duo for me – that's great to find. I've recently been rereading a few favourites, and by chance this past weekend had uploaded the first in Kate Catabary's series – that's about a family of siblings, two girls four boys and is very much the same style of writing as this duo. This is the first in a new series but featuring the same family from the No Weddings/Invitation Only novels. That's Cade and his sisters, and the last series was how Cade and Hannah came together, and the sisters were in the books constantly but in secondary roles. I loved those so was really pleased to find a new series starting. It's been like catching up with friends I've not seen for a while

This time we meet sister Kiki, who's a terrific but somewhat avant garde artist ( I sympathise – my family look at me with a confused face when I've finished some works. I can see the “err..what is it?” hovering.) She's a great girl but guarded, had her heart broken once when she was let down by someone she thought loved her, and she's not going there again, she has one nighters only!
Darren doesn't want that though – she's better than that in his eyes, but – the kicker – he's got responsibilities that he thinks mean he can't be the person she needs. But somehow after a few words a challenge is set, and he's training her several times a week, well – running with her and encouraging her anyway. It looks as though friends is good for them – until it becomes more.

Darren though has a complicated home life, he's still young, but has responsibilities that demand all his attention. Kiki too isn't' the carefree person she presents, she's got some difficult issues going on she's keeping close to her chest. Can they work through all these problems or are they doomed? I was so rooting for them, they seemed such a perfect fit for each other, has such respect for the others feelings and just wanted to help and it's the sharing that we all need, someone to listen, to offer ideas, to be a real partner.

Its a story covering several issues, not a one strand, one plot read and how they all come together, how they work up that head of steam for the perfect dramatic finale is great. I'm always amazed at how authors do that, sow little seeds through the plot, nurturing them along, and bringing them all together so that everything makes sense, and yet as the reader we think how on earth can this end well, how can they get the HEA, but thankfully knowing somehow it will come.

Stars: Five, a great start.

3.0 out of 5 stars Slow Burn Romance 22 March 2016
By Kimberly Addison - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Kiki is an artist who is just looking for a quick hook up! Sex on a stick Darren seems to be just the ticket. Only problem? Darren doesn't want to be just a one night stand to his friends little sister, and Kiki doesn't want anything more. So, what do they do? They start of a friendship, and through that friendship they start to get to know each other and slowly realize that it can be more.

Both characters have personal issues and this keeps them from deepening their connection, I found that a bit frustrating at times. This book really started to drag for me, and I had a hard time finishing it. It's well written, and the characters are good, but the story line was tedious and at times not very believable. All in all a good book, and if you like slow burn romance, this is the book for you.
