Not every runaway wants to be found...

Mattie Banfield has been running for years. Casting spells to protect her young son from people who want him dead. The final spell, cast to cover their home, resulted in a horrific accident, killing Mattie’s best friend and her mate, and her own mother in the process. That spell made the White Wood—the only place Mattie Banfield is truly safe.

But it came at a horrific cost.

She lost not only her best friend and her only remaining family, but she left behind her Kindred, all to protect her son’s life.

When William Walker finds Mattie one morning, she does the only thing she can think of…she casts a spell. Will is a dangerous connection to her old life, and could put their child’s life in danger again.

Mattie will not risk Brady’s life again. Not even for the man who calls out her magick…

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Story!!! 21 March 2017
By Emily Pennington - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Mattie Banfield exited the grocery store and put her groceries in her truck. A man leaned up against a vehicle near hers and she glimpsed his bright green eyes. After all these many years, she immediately recognized Will Walker. He was part of her old life, her mate. They had a son together, and it was imperative that she needed to stay hidden from her family!

In a panic, she uttered a spell to knock Will unconscious and dragged him into her truck. She had to take him home, to the ranch, to get him out of sight before dangerous questions were raised and their conversation overheard. With no other option, the only place she could hide him was in one of the pasture cabins on her dude ranch.

Will had searched for years for the daughter he knew was his – after all, witches only had female offspring, right? But Mattie told him Jamie was adopted and two years younger than she would have to be in order to be his. He didn’t know he had a son – and her family would use Will to track them down and kill that son. She could not allow that. What could she do now? Would she run again? Could she get her son to safety? Would Will continue to track her relentlessly?

This was a really good, fast-paced story that I highly recommend. The reader can see the deep love and sacrifice that needs to be made to save lives. We can feel the danger all around as Mattie tries desperately to figure out her next steps. There are so many things going on, and I look forward to the next book as well!
4.0 out of 5 stars whom i absolutely love her books 14 April 2017

Title: Heart Of Stone
Author: Camryn Rhys

4 unexpected stars

I've read books written by Camryn Rhys in the past, then again, they were collaborations that she wrote with Krystal Shannan, whom i absolutely love her books, so Heart Of Stone, the first book in a new paranormal romance, was a first that i've read that was solely written by herself. And i was truly impressed with how much details she put in her book, how much feeling there was and, especially how much action there was even through all the obstacles that her characters had to go through in their journey. Mattie is a mother on the run to protect her son and magic is the only way she's found that keeps him hidden from all those that want him gone and destroyed - an aspect that drew me in. who would want a child killed or even taken? Each time someone comes close to them, she casts a new spell to keep him hidden, so when a man, William, gets too close, Mattie does the only thing that comes naturally to her; cast a spell to simply vanish. Only, something calls out to her about William. Something that even her magic seems to want and need, but her son has to come first, his safety, his happiness, and especially the love that his mother can give him unconditionally.

4.5 sexy dreams

I was intrigued. I haven't often had the chance to read some really good paranormal lately - the kind that makes you wish that magic, sorcerers, witches and all the dark things that go bump in the night exists. But Camryn Rhys did manage to do so. I loved her new characters, completely different from her Somewhere, Texas series characters and shape shifters, and they made me want to keep reading, to find out more about them. This is the type of novel that will make you want more and more, to read more about the paranormal world that allows authors to let their imagination soar. So one thing is certain, i'll be following this series and Camryn Rhys in the future to find out exactly what's going to happen to her characters..

4.0 out of 5 stars Looking forward to more Witches of Whitewood! 18 March 2017

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Mattie Banfield ran from her kindred Will Walker, after her child was born by casting spells to hide from him and her family. Will tracks her down in Colorado through her daughter Jamie Banfield’s Facebook page believing her to be his daughter but she’s adopted.

Camryn Rhys takes a major twist that I wasn’t expecting in Heart of Stone but that is the mark of good author. Heart of Stone is tied into other series by Camryn Rhys but I was able to enjoy the read without reading any of the other series first. I’m looking forward to reading more in the Witches of Whitewood and the Gallagher pack.
5.0 out of 5 stars All The Questions About The Banfield Witches Answered 15 April 2017
By Hilt1985 - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
Heart of Stone is book one in Camryn Rhys' Moonbound World series The Witches of White Wood. It is a standalone book that takes place on the same time line as book two Heart of Fire. Each book can be read independently but the reader will notice scenes that are the same in both books. There is no cliffhanger in either book.
Mattie Banfield is a witch. She's been on the run from her family for 28 years. Followers of the Moonbound series have been waiting for her story for a long time. Camryn has done a wonderful job with her story. Everything the readers have wondered about is answered. Yet if you are new to the Moonbound World you won't feel lost or as if you missed anything. The story is so complete the reader will feel as if they've been with Mattie through the whole story. There is so much emotion poured into this book you'll be drawn into the Banfield family and crave more of their stories. I can't wait to read the rest of the series. There are so many avenues open for the future of the series I can't wait to see which way Camryn takes the family. Trust that you'll be hooked right from the beginning. I received an ARC from the author. This is my voluntary honest review.
4.0 out of 5 stars A Sweet Romance! 27 March 2017
By Yvette - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
A short and sweet story proving that love doesn't die or fade no matter how long you are separated. Several years ago, Mattie had to leave everything behind to protect her son including the love of her life, Will Walker. Now Will is back, and despite the danger, she can't stop wanting him and the feeling is mutual. The thing I really liked about this book is that both Mattie and Will are older characters. Usually the romances that I read have main characters that are in their twenties, so to have main characters in their forties was a refreshing change. The only problem that I had with this book was that if a person wanted to read this book and had never read read anything else in this series, then they are going to be a little lost. Why has Mattie sacrificed so much to keep her son safe? Why is he in danger in the first place? Both of these questions are eventually explained, but you end up feeling a little lost until they are. This is a good series though, and I really like the world that has been created. I look forward to reading more.
