Okay, first of all I just want to take a moment to relish in the fact that our MC's highlander... is a quadruplet. *sighs*

I love highlander romances and to mix this with shifter romance made it twice the fun. It had a bit of historical references via the film production that wanted in on Ian's lands, and I got a good laugh out of our MC Julia being a romance author... for shifters. lol. So good.

The plot sounded pretty good, but I had a hard time getting into it. She's going there to destroy the paper that would tie her to Ian, but it's hidden, and no one knows about it. Is the risk of bringing it to everyone's attention really worth it? I get that they wanted to get be rid of the thing in case one of Ian's people did know of it, but like... I don't know. It just seemed like it was a bigger deal than it was made out to be, especially when Ian only found out about the contract because she snooped around. Then there's the dialogue, that didn't really hold me unless they were getting sexy. And by the way, the sexy times were done veerryy well.

Overall not a bad book. Probably not for me, because I was tempted to skim through a few things, but I still very much fell for the setting. Anything Scotland and you're already halfway there with me.
5.0 out of 5 stars Review: Heart of the Highland Wolf ~ A fun read! 5 August 2016

Heart of a Highland Wolf is book seven in the Heart of the Wolf series by Terry Spear. It can be read as a stand a lone.

This novel is full of mystery, suspense, adventure, romance, and sexy Scotsmen.

The story is so vivid and detailed that I felt like I was in Scotland right along with the characters. All the characters are intriguing, interesting, and have strong family ties. I loved all the Scotsmen that are introduced. Who doesn’t love a sexy man in a kilt? The story moves along at a nice pace, the romance is sweet, and the mystery/suspense was enjoyable.

I think the best thing about this series is that you can pick up any of the books and just go. You don’t have to read them in order to understand the world and characters.

Heart of the Highland Wolf was such a fun story to read. I love Ms. Spear’s Highland wolfs.

What could be better than an alpha wolf hero? An alpha wolf hero in a kilt - and, even though this is a contemporary, we get multiple hunky 'weres' in kilts. Yum.

I am a shifter fan so I've read all of Spear's werewolf romances, but Heart of the Highland Wolf is my absolute favorite. I like the way that Spear cleverly sets the romance amid a historical movie being filmed at a Scottish castle, so that there are some historical elements mixed in with the contemporary.

A good part of what made the story for me though, is that all of the characters in Heart of the Highland Wolf are wonderful. I really loved the romantic-at-heart Julia, she's an author who is a werewolf and she writes werewolf romances. Throughout the story Julia takes inspiration from what is going on around her and writes these romantic sexy scenes in her head. And the way that Julia's musings weave into the action make the book that much more romantic and sexy. Her reluctant hero Ian is good too, he tries to use his head but finds himself breaking his own rules since Julia 'gets' to him at a primal level. I also liked Julia's fiery friend Maria who is also a wolf and I hope to see more of her. But of course I can't forget Ian's brothers - he's a quad. In Duncan, Guthrie and Cearnach, author Spear manages three completely different personalities, all of them appealing and I want their books now.

Happily it looks like I'll get my wish. I emailed Spear, and Duncan's story, The Highland Wolf in Paradise is already written. Can't wait.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable Read! 16 July 2011

This being the latest in the Terry Spear werewolf book series, I wanted to read all the other books before I read this one. I really liked the hero, Ian McNeill, laird of Argent Castle and his family. The brothers are devoted to him, and intent on saving the home and land they all love. I liked the battle scenes during the shooting of the movie, and I think Laird McNeill wish he could have killed off his sworn enemy for real.

Heart of the Highland Wolf was a smooth read, and I read it pretty quickly. Out of the whole werewolf book series Legend of the White Wolf (Book 4) was my hardest one to get through, and Seduced by the Wolf (Book 5), was my favorite one. I liked reading the other books first, especially since characters from the first books were introduced again in later books. As someone else mentioned in their review, I agree with them that this book is a "stand alone" book.

Julia MacPherson and her friend movie assistant director Maria Baquero are staying at Baird Cottage just a short walk from Argent Castle where a movie is being shot. Better known at least back in the States as Julia Wildthorn, author of Highland werewolf romances, she expects her trip to Scotland will end her writer's block and she hopes to find an ancient secret box her grandfather says the family hid there. The castle laird Ian MacNeill has been a pain in the butt but that is Maria's problem muses Julia.

However, starting with flight delays, the trip goes awry. A car accident leads to Ian carrying Julia into the castle. MacNeill realizes the American he holds is a wolf just like he is. Since she hid her heritage, he distrusts her but to his chagrin the wolf wants her. She wants to reveal the truth though she is unsure what that is to her mate, but fears he will kick her back across the ocean.

This is a fun werewolf romance starring two likable leads and a strong support cast; mostly his clan. The story line is fast-paced yet the refreshing scenes occur when Wildthorn goes into writer's mode. Fans will appreciate Terry Spear's entertaining tale even though the wolves are more in the background than usual, but the romance between the writer and the laird is an enjoyable contemporary.
