When Eliza Owens gets a phone call in the middle of the night from a girl she’s never met, she doesn’t know what to think. The girl introduces herself as Paige, and says she used to date Erik Stern, Eliza’s fiancé. What’s more, she has something important to discuss.

really interesting, a nice short read

Haze has Rebecca Crunden’s classic charm, humour and mystery wrapped up around a heartbreaking story involving four people who go into the forest one day – and come out completely changed.
The characters in this book were so damn believeable, and so easy to relate to! Pain and grief twisted these characters into shells of their previous selves, but slowly we began to witness the recovery of these characters, and we felt their pain and guilt every step of the way. As said, Miles was my absolute favourite character, but I also really liked Eliza and Eric, as they were just so easy to feel for and they were really the perfect MC’s for this book. The novel swapped between different POVs, mostly Eric and Eliza’s, but also Roger’s – a dick but a dick that I kinda felt for – from time to time. This really made sure that the reader experienced the same thing that the characters were going through, and nicely framed the book.
All up, Haze was a captivating, touching and very interesting novel that I believe most people would enjoy, and one I also believe is a nice book to read in-between longer books!

A creepy mystery. Spirits, midnight phone calls, complicated relationships and drugs bring out the true colours of the living in this novel; it's mainly the ghosts though. Eliza is dating Erik, someone called Paige telephones Eliza in the night. Paige has something important to tell Eliza. The thing is, Paige died five years ago. This drew me into the story, there are other thread lines and other characters/ghosts to consider along the way as Eliza finds out what that midnight phone call meant. I liked the 'five years later' and 'one year later' that adds to the drama. Although, I must admit to counting on my fingers.. how old are they now? I'm not an expert on this genre but am recommending this book to all for variety. Treat yourself to a bit of magical realism.

I greatly value the reviews before I buy and download. I thought this was going to be a gripping psychological thriller, how wrong I was. I am not offended with swearing but the main characters used the "F***" word as often as they smoked cigarettes, drugs and endless amounts of coffee. As the story progressed it became more ridiculous. Everything was thrown in, violence, drug dealing, casual sex, nobody got a good nights sleep and Eliza was permanently wrung out and on the receiving end of comments such as "you look bad baby". Also throw in some supernatural and there you have it. If I had the foresight to have glanced at the author's other books I would have avoided, utter dross. Back to my volumes of the greatest classics for me.

Very engaging and bewitching story. Great pacing and character development. The ending reveal was unpredictable and surprising and I really enjoyed it. Erik was definitely my favorite character, so well rounded and fascinating. Crunden does it again with another breath taking tale with fantastic characters.

This was a fun read if you like ghost stories, and I ended up really liking some of the characters even when I didn't like them at the beginning. There was an element of mystery that fits with the genre and really made the ending enjoyable. I was creeped out during certain parts, which was exactly what I liked most about this book. Definitely give the characters a chance - they might surprise you!
