There are so many things that I love about Lori Foster's books. I love how she is able to take characters from all walks of life and make them every day people, yet none of her characters are exactly the same no matter how many books she has written. I love how her books always seem to hit the ground running. You never have to work yourself up to the second or third chapter until you're really engaged; but, rather you're engaged by the second paragraph. I think the thing I love the most, though, is that her characters are so endearing. I have yet to meet one of her characters (aside from her villains, of course) that I have not wished that they lived right next-door. That is exactly how I feel, once again, with Foster's newest hero and heroine - Justice and Fallon.
Justice is a former MMA fighter who knows who he is and is comfortable in his own skin. As with most of Foster's male characters, he is confident in most things, strong, a typical alpha male with an inexhaustible amount of sensitivity towards those around him. After all, Alpha doesn't have to mean a-hole.
Fallon, our heroine, is such a great character. Because of past events, Fallon is both a little naive and child-like in many ways. Make no mistake, though. She is all woman, full of moxie, and can speak her mind. She learns quickly and doesn't want to live in the past but begin living in the now. All of this, of course, brings out Justice's greater extinct to protect her in every way.
This story is full of everything you've come to expect from Foster: wit, suspense, alpha males, smart women, romance, tenderness, heat - lots of that, and an incomparable storyline. I don't know how she does it but no matter how many books she writes, she brings us a fresh storyline each time. Hard Justice is no different. Without any spoilers I'll simply say that Justice has to figure out how to tackle obstacles in his new career, and life, without the option of grappling. Add to that he does have to make some hard decisions as to whether or not he wants to guard Fallon's body or practice his "floor game" with her. When a serious threat seems to center around Fallon, and curiously incorporates both Justice's new and old careers, Justice and Fallon find themselves working together as they find who they are now and who they are to each other.
For diehard Foster fans, you'll be delighted to know that while this is a Body Armor series book, there's a seamless and entertaining crossover with Foster's Ultimate series for much of the book. Personally, I think Foster is teasing us with Miles and Brand as she has them in upcoming Body Series novels and making us wonder if we'll get a new Ultimate novel or novella with Tomahawk. 😍
This is a must-read; and, while it can stand on its own, I highly recommend your reading Under Pressure at the very least first. To get the full impact, though, I would read all of the Ultimate Series, as well.
Justice Wallingham thinks that he is just going to guard heiress Fallon Wade but little does he know that she will made this assignment a fun adventure. Fallon is finally to spread her wings and Justice is just the man to experience life for the first time. One is adventure is visiting Rowdy's Bar (Getting Rowdy) where she meets Justice's MMA friends Cannon and Armie. I will say that there is a hint of suspense where Justice saves the day and does get the girl.
Lori Foster seems to always write exceptional books and let's just say I would love for Justice to be my bodyguard. This is the 2nd book in the Body Armour Series but it does have characters from some of her other series which makes this a fun read.
Lori Foster hits it out of the park again in her second Body Armor novel. The attraction between Justice and Fallon is immediate and magnetic. Fallon is not just sheltered, she has little confidence in herself and it was wonderfully sweet watching Justice help her blossom as a person. It was also great to get to see Justice in the main role and come into his own. He tries to learn from watching Leese in Under Pressure and balance to role of body guard with his developing feelings for Fallon, even trying to quit so that he can date her.
You would think that two such nice and regular people wouldn't have anyone potentially trying to kill them, so the fact that you spend most of the book debating between three or four suspects is a little alarming. Who's behind the vandalism, Fallon's accidents, and trying to set Justice's car on fire (with him in it)? Should we be worrying about the new MMA fighter that Justice KO'd in his final fight and won't give a rematch? Fallon's jerk ex-boyfriend? The jerk ex-boyfriend's creepy "business" partners? Foster masterfully braids it all together so that any (or all) of them seem like viable suspects until the very end.
Readers new to the series and Foster's MMA world won't feel lost starting here and Foster devotees will enjoy seeing Leese, Cannon, Armie, and the rest of the fight club again in supporting roles. From main characters to supporting roles, everyone is believable and multi-layered. Hard Justice is a wonderfully written, fast-paced mix of romance and adventure that will grab you and not let go until the final page.
Fallon is 24 however she is rather naïve after being sheltered and overprotected by her parents after a family tragedy. She wants some independence and freedom to experience life without being sheltered and the only way her parents would agree is if she had a bodyguard.
Their attraction to each other was instant and intense. What started out as an assignment where there was no threat evolved into Fallon being surrounded by danger and it would take not only Justice but the entire Body Armor team to keep her safe.
This is another story by this author filled with suspense, twists and red hot chemistry that you don't want to miss.
Justice Wallington was a former MMA fighter that now worked for Body Armor Security agency. He was still hard, toned and in fighting shape.
Fallon Wade was an heiress whose family had seen tragedy, which had prevented her from having a fun and normal life while trying to pave her way in the world.
Hard Justice was told with a dual POV. Justice was hired to protect Fallon as she began to venture out into the world. Foster outlined their initial meeting and then all follow up encounters while adding some suspense and mystery into the plot. It was a journey of acceptance, confidence, hope and love while solving the puzzle of unfortunate incidents that surrounded them. Foster also included the forever loved group of MMA fighters from the Ultimate series for added substance. Who doesn’t love a bunch of gorgeous alpha men and strong independent women?!
All in all, it was a fairly quick and entertaining read. It also set the stage for Miles’ story next in Close Contact while hinting towards Brand’s story in Fast Burn.
