I'm so happy to have this book! Elise is a wonderful mindfulnessmeditation teacher (as anyone who has completed her Mindful in May program would know) and an innovator in the mindfulness field. Her new book is evidence-based and practical (unsurprising given her medical background), but at the same time inspiring and uplifting. This is a wonderful handbook for happiness for both beginners and experts alike.
I loved this book. It was so clear and easy to understand. With a clear case for why we would want to try mindfulness and practical, straightforward steps on how to do it. I loved seeing all the possible ways there are to be mindful, but with each in a bite-sized chunk so as not to be overwhelming. It was also engaging and easy to read. As a therapist myself, I so appreciate when someone is able to make complex subjects like neurobiology and the benefits of meditation accessible and straight forward. This book would be perfect for anyone wanting to start practicing mindfulness and meditation or any mental health practitioner. I'll definitely be recommending it.
I'm already in love with this plan! I've been interested in, and practicing mindfulness for a while now, so it feels right to expand on that by learning from the pros.
I love that this book addresses the basics, including breathing and posture. It will be great to refine existing skills, as well as develop new ones. I'm also excited to learn meditation, as this is one area in which my skills are definitely lacking, but Elise has explained everything in such a kind and easy-to-understand way.
The Happiness Plan is a wonderful mix of the authors personal accounts with mindfulness, meditation, science, research, experimentation and connection. She draws from a vast array of ancient, spiritual and scientific inspiration which helps guide the reader towards a simple practice of staying present, being real and truly connected. It's very digestible, and is a great book to have handy to help you tap back into your self. Thank you for this great read.
Elise posts practical steps on tapping into your inner happiness. I particularly liked how the book was split up into 4 weeks making it really easy and manageable to read and follow along. If you're looking to introduce meditation and mindfulness into your life and just don't know where to start, this is the book you need. I loved how Elise also shared recipes relevant to each week!
I enjoyed reading this so much! Elise uses such a disarming and conversational tone throughout the book. I'd highly recommend this to anyone interested in mindfulness or connecting more deeply with themselves. Whether you're new to meditation and mindfulness or more experienced as I am, this is one book you'll be leafing through time and time again.
Simply superb. Elise believes in the power of mindfulmeditation for healing and finding happiness. I am currently reading her book, which is beautifully written, and at the same time doing some of her simple exercises. I find them relaxing and calming. I like Elise’s book very much!
I have read lots of books on meditation and mindfulness, and the strategies and ways Elise sees the world and expresses herself is refreshing. There are so many books on 'being in the now' and how to be 'happy'. There is something about Elise honest and methodical approach, bringing In her background as a trained Psychiatrist - nothing to fluffy! I love how the book takes us on a meditation journey from'beginners mind' to 'managing meditation obstacles' make it so easy to follow and accessible. Ooh and not to mention the delicious recipes she rewards her readers with at the end of each week. YUM!!!!! A BRILLIANTLY REFRESHING APPROACH TO MEDITATION AND FINDING TRUE HAPPINESS!!!! Well done Elise!!!
This is a well written and practical guide to mindfulnessmeditation. Bialylew draws on her medical training in psychiatry and a strong evidence base to bring together an easy-to-access plan for practising mindfulness daily. She links in her social enterprise, Mindful in May, and offers readers additional resources through her website. There are recipes, anecdotes, tips and deeply personal reflections that come together to make for an entertaining and altogether different kind of read.
I loved this book. I love learning about the reasons behind things, instead of just being told what to do but why. It's a very interesting read and an excellent guide to mindfulness, meditation and happiness. I love how it's all set out for you and how you can introduce things into your life in a practical way. I'd definitely recommend it.
