I'm so happy to have this book! Elise is a wonderful mindfulness meditation teacher (as anyone who has completed her Mindful in May program would know) and an innovator in the mindfulness field. Her new book is evidence-based and practical (unsurprising given her medical background), but at the same time inspiring and uplifting. This is a wonderful handbook for happiness for both beginners and experts alike.
Elise Bialylew provides a practical guide using scientifically proven practices to help us to move towards a better quality of life. This holistic approach incorporates all aspects of human experience to transform our often chaotic personal worlds into a more clear, focused and present life.I love how Elise makes these practices more accessible to those of us who have previously been unfamiliar with the process. The detail that she provides when she explains the procedures that are needed to succeed, as well as what will be achieved once you have started to practice them, is both calming and encouraging. This life-affirming guide can help you to transform your life to new, positive levels. Small adjustments suggested within this wonderful book can help to reduce stress, improve communication and de-clutter a tired mind. The fact that Bialylew has herself overcome personal pressure, stress, & burnout during her challenging medical career means that the lessons that she shares come from a place of experience and knowing-ness which makes her work very relatable. This step-by-step guide is clear and calming from the very first word and it is highly recommended to anyone who is seeking a higher level of happiness in their life.
Insightful, positive and uplifting! The combination of a background in understanding how the brain works on a physical level and taking it deeper is both fascinating and compelling. The authors soul-purpose to "support people in thriving, not just surviving" shines through!
I loved this book. It was so clear and easy to understand. With a clear case for why we would want to try mindfulness and practical, straightforward steps on how to do it. I loved seeing all the possible ways there are to be mindful, but with each in a bite-sized chunk so as not to be overwhelming. It was also engaging and easy to read. As a therapist myself, I so appreciate when someone is able to make complex subjects like neurobiology and the benefits of meditation accessible and straight forward. This book would be perfect for anyone wanting to start practicing mindfulness and meditation or any mental health practitioner. I'll definitely be recommending it.
I'm already in love with this plan! I've been interested in, and practicing mindfulness for a while now, so it feels right to expand on that by learning from the pros.
I love that this book addresses the basics, including breathing and posture. It will be great to refine existing skills, as well as develop new ones. I'm also excited to learn meditation, as this is one area in which my skills are definitely lacking, but Elise has explained everything in such a kind and easy-to-understand way.
The Happiness Plan is a wonderful mix of the authors personal accounts with mindfulness, meditation, science, research, experimentation and connection. She draws from a vast array of ancient, spiritual and scientific inspiration which helps guide the reader towards a simple practice of staying present, being real and truly connected. It's very digestible, and is a great book to have handy to help you tap back into your self. Thank you for this great read.
The Happiness Plan is a very enjoyable read while at the same time offering guidance which is scientifically based and great for people who are time poor like me. The author has written the book in a human not clinical way that kept me totally absorbed from the moment I started to read it. She has a way with words that make you feel she is speaking to you personally. I highly recommend it.
This book is an excellent guide to steer those who are on the path to a more fulfilling, healthy and mindful life. It is one of the most comprehensive books I have read on the subject of Mindfulness. It includes recipes for life... to nourish the mind ...the heart... the soul ...and even some delicious recipes to nourish the body. Thoroughly enjoyed Elise’s style and the easy flow filled with many entertaining anecdotes.

What a fantastic book! Many's the time I've tried to read or listen to books on meditation and they just haven't stuck. However, this is a book that's easy to read, makes tons of sense and the exercises within are very accessible. I'll be returning to this again and again. It's definitely now my go-to book on meditation.
I'm new to mindful meditation and have just completed my first Mindful in May. I have followed onto Mind Life Project. I highly recommend it and Elise Bialylew and her team.
What we've always needed, a beautifully succinct structure with explanations, references and guidance towards personal growth via the practice of mindful and compassionate meditation. Loved it.
