4.0 out of 5 stars 4.5 stars!!! Fantastic conclusion to this unforgettable series 12 April 2016

Hush (Black Lotus #3) by EK Blair
4.5 stars!!!

“It’s love, darling…it takes everyone hostage.”

EK Blair has given me a lot of firsts in her career and Hush has just given me another one, however, what that first was will have to remain a secret else it would be a huge spoiler. But that is everything that encompasses this series, a lot of firsts. EK Blair is not afraid to push boundaries, push your boundaries and while Hush has a very different feel to it than Bang and Echo, EK Blair’s blood and trademarks run through every page and truly bring this book to life and unfortunately this series to an end. The Black Lotus series is one of my all-time favourites, these characters have embedded themselves into my heart and soul and to say goodbye to them was extremely hard. This has been a far cry from a traditional romance but none the less, the ultimate end goal was always Elizabeth’s happiness and the question on everyone’s tongue is…does she get it?

“He’s the creation of my monstrosity, forever changed as a result of my demented soul. He fell in love with the devil when he fell in love with me.”

Hush was definitely the rebirth of Elizabeth Rose Archer, this book centres around Elizabeth finding herself and trying to forget Nina once and for all. With everything she has been through though this was never going to be an easy task. All Elizabeth’s vulnerabilities and insecurities are tackled and it was fantastic to see “the real” side to our tough Nina. She has never worn her heart on her sleeve and has never really let anyone in and to see her open up, raw, emotional and vulnerable made this story all the more realistic. It was gritty, it was believable and it only makes you understand and relate to Elizabeth all the more.

“Tears paint my face in a piece of art that embodies a love so powerful it can only be ours. It’s ugly and beautiful and painful, but it’s ours. We are monsters and lovers, animals and killers, but nothing can extinguish what we have when we’re together.”

The end of Elizabeth’s story was always going to be hard, for a child that had been deprived of her childhood, had been let down by the authorities and abused physically and mentally by those that should have saved her, Elizabeth really does have a mountain climb. Trust is always going to be an issue and it is really this and her tenuous links to her past that really hold her back. But our Elizabeth proves what a fighter she is and really tries to pull herself back. She needs to find herself, find Elizabeth Rose Archer, she has been pretending for so long she has no idea who and what she truly is and the last time she was really herself she was five years old.

The other characters that are featured within Hush are also shown in a different light, the strong and fearless are shown weak and exposed, the dislikeable become likeable and EK Blair managed to turn a lot of my thoughts, feelings and preconceptions well and truly on their head. When there are three men in the mix initially you always pick a team, a side that you want to win and a man that you want to champion, the trouble with this series was you never really knew who was dead or alive at any one moment. EK Blair has been a wicked puppet master with my emotions throughout this series and while you get a little reprieve with Hush she still manages to get you, she lures you into a false sense of security and then pulls the trigger. Bang…she got me…hear the Echo…Hush it’s oh so quiet.

“As much as you need him, I need you more.”

This is one series I will never forget and as much as I would love to go on and on, I really can’t, I hate spoilers and this book needs to be read as the author intended. Feel it all, experience it all and live it all. EK Blair, I have to salute you for staying true to the story and the characters. This couldn’t have been an easy book or series to write and as hard as it was to read, every palpitation, every tear, ever OMG moment will be well and truly savoured. Not many authors can keep you on the edge of your seat for three books and you pulled it off in style in all its eloquent, intoxicating, gripping, addictive, stomach churning, soul crushing glory. For those that want to push themselves, this is one series I can highly recommend.

“I knew in that moment that I would never be unloved, I would never be abandoned, and I would never be left to fight the monsters alone.”

5.0 out of 5 stars EK Blair has knocked it out of the park. 12 April 2016
By Up All Night Book Blog - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
I may have made a few enemies when this book showed up on my kindle and yes I unabashedly posted it all over Facebook, if's that wrong - I don't ever want to be right!

First things first, this is a trilogy - you must read BANG, then ECHO - then read HUSH. This is a series that you just can't jump in 1/2 way through...this series needs to be on your TBRN (To Be Read Now) if you haven't started it yet because it's just phenomenal and unique, there is no other series like it out there!

So I will stop all my gushing and talk about this book...once again, EK Blair has knocked it out of the park. These characters will forever be in my mind, soul and heart. I can't even discuss what exactly happens because everyone deserves that moment when we find out who was on TV <-----the cliffhanger from Echo. You know - we all discussed it ad nauseum - we all had our theories. I found myself covering the bottom of my kindle so I wouldn't/couldn't sneak my eyes down to the next chapter to see who it was and when I saw it I was so excited to see where this book journey would take me.

I wasn't disappointed, not one bit. I can say that we see a different, more vulnerable side of these characters which we saw at times in Echo - but 10 times more. I cried and my heart was pumping like I had just run 10 miles (well, I have never run 10 miles but I can only image what my heart would feel like after it). The relationships between these characters range from love, to lust, to hate, to utter devastation and elation.

Just beautiful writing, captivating dialogue and this IS EK Blair's best books yet! I can't wait for everyone to get their hands on this book. The epilogue could possibly be my most favorite epilogue ever written. It's utter perfection!

Call out of work, use your vacation time, act sick, I DON'T CARE, but on April 12th at 12 MIDNIGHT,this book needs to be cracked open and devoured as it deserves to be!

2.0 out of 5 stars NOT a worthy finale! 14 April 2016
By Angie IsA ReadingMachine - Published on

**Warning! My review contains MAJOR SPOILERS!!**

What the heck did I just read? This book was boring. It was ridiculous. I have no idea who this Declan and Elizabeth were but they weren't the two from the previous books.

There were so many things they did that didn't make sense. This, particularly, bugged me the most - Matt gave up Elizabeth to his loan shark. But instead of just giving the loan shark the $250,000 he was owed to save her own skin, Elizabeth gave him all of Bennett's billions because she didn't want his money. What?! Okay that's fine but why not give it to a children's abuse charity or foster home charity? Anything other than a scumbag loan shark. I can't even.

It all felt lazy. Like Blair didn't have a game plan for the finale. I can tell you anything would have been better than the epilogue we were given. It's the dumbest thing I've ever read in my life.

I really hate to be so harsh but there were high expectations for this finale and it was an epic fail. The only part I liked was the reunion between Elizabeth and her dad. That was highly emotional. Otherwise it would have only been one star. What a waste. I'm highly disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Epic ending 14 April 2016

OMG This was so worth the wait!!! What an outstanding ending to a magnificent series. So hard to talk about without leaving spoilers but I am in awe of this book!!!! The questions are all answered. Declan redeemed himself as I hoped for as did Elizabeth. THis is a story of two tortured souls who finally find and deserve happiness. The ending is totally unexpected and beautiful. I definitely did not see this one coming. All I can say is grab a box of tissues and get ready for the crazy ride. You will not be sorry.

2.0 out of 5 stars Huh? 17 April 2016
By ☮ Syrina ☮ RWBR - Published on

Darn, and a few other words I choose not to share. Terribly exited for this final installment to my favorite series, but when the premise says: Dark Psychosexual Thriller, I expect to read about lots of Dark, tons of Psychosexuality, and a bit of Thriller somewhere in there. Imagine to my horror when I get gooey marshmallow, sappy lovey dovey stuff in 70% of this tripe and then sort of a childrens fantasy land at the 95% mark.

Don't get me wrong I was not looking for a happily ever after romantic ending as that's just not me nor what I went in for at the beginning of this series. This took split personality to a whole nother level, it does not seem like E.K. Blair's style of writing and I am stumped.

On a side note, I would not ever read about fairytales, dreams, princesses, and colorful caterpillars in a magical afterlife and how misleading this sad tale was. Have to say its a bit like milking the cow as the series should have been wrapped up in one complete novel.
