Listening to Neil Young’s ‘Comes A Time’, the headphones reproduces Young’s acoustic Martin pretty faithfully. Neil’s legendary ‘Old Black’ electric Gibson has the appropriate bite and distortion in ‘Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black). The sound of the cymbals in ‘Like A Hurricane’ does show that the Helm isn’t perfect; these headphones are not going to be able to faithfully reproduce the natural decay of the drums. This is a really minor quibble as I comparing the Helm to my reference headphones- Shure E535 ($499.99).
These headphones punch way above its weight. I’m very impressed with these ‘phones.’
I only have two very, very small issues. I have pretty big hands and the buttons on each bud are a bit hard to feel. It'll happen with time, I'm sure. I also wish the range was longer. Again, can't complain much since it's about what they say it is. Still...I guess I'm always just hoping to be pleasantly surprised with bluetooth range, but it just hasn't happened yet. Buy these.
Been looking for TWS earbuds for a bit now, since I've been tired of having to untangle and fumble with my current IEMs' cable multiple times everyday. They sound good enough for my use of mostly podcasts when I'm on the go and music for when I'm studying, but most importantly they're comfortable and isolate around 7-8/10. I've gotten a $50 budget pair, a $100 pair, and these so far (will have reviews for all of them). Looking for the aforementioned comfort, good isolation, and sound that doesn't noticeably offend.
Sounded a bit distant and anemic. Bass had a bit of kick to it, but that's all I noticed in my short trial period. Never heard of this company before Speaking of sound, when you turn them on, the voice that speaks to you was extremely loud. The kind of loudness that makes you want to tear the buds out of your ear to prevent yourself from prematurely losing your hearing.
I used my own single/triple flange eartips. The triple flanges isolate best, but are a bit uncomfortable. The fit was very solid and snug, and felt like it wouldn't let much noise in. Probably my favorite part about these earbuds. The "wing tip" was not detachable, and didn't even remotely feel like it was going to fit where it was supposed to.
Big and bulky, I was hoping I'd like the cool textured look on the outside more, but it didn't feel that special to me. It stuck out of my ears a bit.
I did one test call, and sounded about as you'd expect. I was a bit loud to my friend, and echoed a bit. Can't really expect much from something that's trying to pick up your voice while sitting in your ear. It won't sound that great, and will have lots of background noise.
I appreciated all the functions they tried to squeeze in, but the button's location and the execution just weren't there. First of all, the location of the buttons mean you're going to be pushing into your ear which is a bit awkward feeling. In addition, I have to push harder than I'd like to get the button to actuate.
Single click was play/pause which worked well with a slight delay. Skip/Previous Track worked relatively well too, but volume was a bit weird. It wouldn't go down the first few times I tried to lower it (I think it was either double/triple click), and when it finally worked it was lowering the earbuds "internal volume" which made the voice that greets you and whatnot not as loud. Later on when I was adjusting the volume again, it started to adjust my phone volume. I'm guessing it has something to do with whether or not you have something playing or not. (not exactly sure)
Didn't keep them long enough to even find out. The case was a bit hard to open each time, but at least they had indicators for relative charge of the case.
VERDICT: Won't be keeping because of all the nitpicks. Honestly wasn't worth it at all compared to the $100 pair that I bought before (you can see the review on my profile). Out of the metrics that I have for choosing a new wireless earbud (isolation/comfort > sound), it only delivered on isolation.
