I somehow missed the allergen in the product listing. Gluten free should never include items made on equipment shared with wheat. Don't tell me about acceptable parts per million, because eat enough of something and a celiac has a serious problem. FDA writes rules that leave everyone stuck in a land of "user beware", with vague and unhelpful labels which lead to sick people.
SO, yes, I have already eaten one, because I missed it in the ad. I was in grab a snack and run mode and didn't read the label of what I received.
Allergens aside, to be fair, I like this bar. It's what I expected. Soft with a nice texture. I like all of the ingredients except for the unknown amount of wheat allergen I may or may not get from shared machinery.
This is very disappointing because I like them, but I can't take chances with allergies.
Out of 5
3 stars because I think they are delicious.
-2 for poor listing information and irresponsible labeling.
I give it 3 stars because of the flavor. I love acai and this only faintly reminds me of acai. It's a bit too tangy for me. The dark chocolate and choco peanut butter have a wonderful taste. I love those!
Some time ago, I decided to reform my sugarholic ways and begin eating as healthy as I could. Not only to lose the extra 20 I've been lugging around for about a decade, but to have more stamina and just feel better. These delicious chewy little Coconut Chia Bars helped so much in that goal! I can eat these guilt free, and I no longer crave candy.
I have discovered that the better I eat, the better I feel and I have so much more energy now with healthy snacks from the Health Warrior line. I have searched for years, trying to choke down chalky protein bars I hated, and finally here discovered something that helped me transition from unhealthy to healthy eating. These are just slightly sweet, not overly sweet, and not bland like popular protein bars. They are chewy, and because of the fiber content, they actually help me feel full, too.
Try these coconut chia bars - if you love coconut, you will not be disappointed.
It's really easy to have the "100 calorie" accomplished by a bar barely bigger than the size of a matchbox
**A warning to those not used to chia or high fiber foods.. don't eat too much too quick. They can easily constipate.
And drink enough water. Chia seeds soak up a ton of water and usually it's better to soak them first. Eating them dry, they sap a fair amount of water in digestion. Especially if you're active, you may be more prone to dehydration
