Product Description

The fight for Man's survival in the galaxy begins now...

Since the discovery of dark matter only weeks before, massive electromagnetic storms have been bombarding the Earth. The power grids have been up and down. Cell service, land lines, TV, radio, and even cable have had major interruptions. Man is not prepared for the events that are coming.

In this first devastating book of the HADRON series, a small group of citizens take control of their own destinies when Earth's relatively tranquil existence is shattered by a new reality... our galaxy is a hostile, unforgiving place. Can we survive a collapsing civilization before our true enemies even arrive?

Also available from this author:

SODIUM Series

A six-book series that takes Man from his first encounter with aliens all the way to a fight for our all-out survival. Do we have what it takes to rule the galaxy?

AMP Series

Cast a thousand years into the future beyond SODIUM. This eight-book series chronicles the struggles of Don Grange, a simple package deliveryman, who is thrust into an unimaginable role in the fight against our enemies. Can we win peace and freedom after a thousand years of war?

OMEGA Series

Cast a thousand years into the future beyond AMP. The Alliance is crumbling. When corruption and politics threaten to throw the allied galaxies into chaos, Knog Beutcher gets caught in the middle. Follow along as our hero is thrust into roles that he never expected or sought. Espionage, intrigue, political assassinations, rebellions and full-on revolutions, they are all coming to Knog Beutcher's world!

HADRON Series

HADRON is a modern day story unrelated to the SODIUM-AMP-OMEGA trilogy series. After scientists using the Large Hadron Collider discover dark matter, the world is plunged into chaos. Massive waves of electromagnetic interference take out all grid power and forms of communication the world over. Cities go dark, food and water supplies are quickly used up, and marauders rule the highways. One group of citizens takes a stand. Can they make a difference? And the devastating EM waves, where are they coming from? After months of starvation, a benevolent species arrive in their spaceships to rescue the Human race. Only, are they really so benevolent?

ARMS Series

ARMS is set in the future after Earth was nearing an apocalyptic event. Two competing colony ships were built, taking five million inhabitants each through a wormhole to a pair of newly discovered planets. The planets were settled and not long after the colonies looked to the surrounding star systems for ownership and expansion, which led to a centuries long war between them. A truce was declared after the aggressor side began to lose ground.

Tawnish Freely and Harris Gruberg are genetically engineered Biomarines. Their lives have been dedicated to fighting the war. They find themselves struggling to find work among a population that fears them. Work is found only by delving into the delivery of illegal arms to the outer colonies. Things go awry when they discover their illicit dealings may just be the catalyst that brings back the Great War. They are determined to prevent that from happening.

Dark Matter draws you in from the first page, with the depths of intrigue luring your curiosity hungrily for more as our hero is disorientated at every turn. A world which clearly is alien. If you liked Blade Runner, The Minority Report, and the new Total Recall movies, then you will love this.

The book was ok to pass some time reading.
Too much use of improbable combinations of facts about the characters.

3.0 out of 5 stars Local anesthetic of two-hour duration 21 July 2016

Another post-apocalyptic novel, this time featuring total world-wide breakdown of all power and all communications. As the US extremely rapidly dives into unstoppable chaos, lawlessness, rapine, and murder-we follow a small group of people who serendipitously met in a Norfolk, VA bar when the disaster struck. They ultimately decide to find refuge in a remote W. Virginia nook and most of the book is devoted to their small convoy's horror-filled journey to relative safety. On the plus side – the writer knows his métier. The story flows along with a steady pace describing constant action, as the heroes and heroines try to stay alive while performing occasional Good Samaritan acts. There are many sizable digressions (or fillers) that describe weapons, vehicles, local geography, more (but often less) relevant glimpses of the protagonists' past lives. On the debit side – the story and our heroes are as flat and as bland as thin-crust pizza from a cheap chain store. One is reminded of Karl May oeuvres. Just like Old Shatterhand, who arrives as a greenhorn to the Wild West and proves to be the best in anything and everything, our heroes happen to include a couple of US top competition sharpshooters, equipped with a veritable regimental armory, souped-up equipment, and inexhaustible amount of greenbacks. It just happens that they pair with a barmen who was in a special commando unit in the Middle-East, and a brewer who happens to be an engineer and an agronomist and who can, of course, fix just about anything. They have the good luck that the next door neighbor happens to have a small chopper. And last, but hardly least, they just stumble upon a physicist and a TV star who might be able to guess at what's really happening, while serving as a makeshift demolition expert. But have no doubts, this small band covers their tender humanity with continuous good-hearted banter at a level of a dumb high-school freshman. Nobody bothers to explain what happens to the government and the army. Guess it is not interesting enough. Judging by the prose, I strongly suspect these attributes are not sins of omission, but rather virtues of commission. In other words, Mr. Arseneault can do much better, but knowing his audience he makes the right fodder for the right people. Well, everybody's got to eat. Besides, forgetting you have a brain for a couple of hours and for free (Kindle!), is a great deal

5.0 out of 5 stars The pacing is excellent, like a well designed ride 14 April 2016

I've read all of his series and I am addicted to Stephen Arsenault's style. All of his stories start with people who are somewhat common & relatable, who wind up in extraordinary circumstances that test their mettle as well as his cast of fascinating characters, both human and alien. The scope of his tales start small and then gradually expand in galactic proportions. The pacing is excellent, like a well designed ride...60 seconds of thrill and a period to rest, catch your breath and laugh.
Get this book, then hold on. You're in for an epic fun read!

4.0 out of 5 stars It's Never Easy to Say Goodbye... To Civilization 2 January 2017
By T Paul - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
The author makes no bones that this is the first in a series, but he develops sympathetic characters that pull you into the story. If you strongly believe that the Government, law enforcement, and the military will do everything in their power to defend you, and plan accordingly, you might not care for the message conveyed by the author. If, on the other hand, you not only believe in Murphy's law, but dated its sister, you'll probably like this novel as much as I did.

If you want to read this book right, turn off the lights, the TV, the radio, and AC or heater. Cover the windows so that it's quiet and you can pretend you are one of the last people on Earth. Use a battery lantern, and light candles when the batteries go dead. Think about the loved ones you might never see again, or must risk your life to get to. Consider that the people around you might be the only people you will ever speak to again. The clothes you are wearing are the last clothes you may ever wear. The food in your house may be your last meal.

Then read it.

Enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars An Enjoyable Series Begins 2 November 2016
By Michael S. Kraus - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Dark Matter is a pretty typical beginning to a post apocalyptic series.

We have some unknown power which is disrupting the world wide power grid.

The author drops a few hints about the source of that power.

Humanity quickly devolves into chaos. There are roaming bands looking for food and looting.

In rural New Jersey a small group of exceedingly wealthy and well prepared survivalists link up in a small local bar.

Together, they decide that a cave in West Virginia would be the perfect place to hunker down, and wait for whatever happens next.

Along the way, they pick up some friends, and battle some evils doers.

Eventually they find themselves cornered in their cave. Will the cavalry come to the rescue before it is too late?

This book was a pleasant read. There are plenty of un answered questions. Although it is listed as a science fiction book, there is little scifi in this book. The author promises to ramp up the scifi in future installments.

If your looking for an enjoyable series to read, check out this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars I highly recommend this book 30 October 2016

Hadron, Dark Matter is contemporary and at least this first book of this series has a survivalist theme and will transition into science fiction. I highly recommend this book. It will be hard to put down and hits very close to what could actually happen if a complete collapse of our technology and the grid should occur as. You can see what happens even in the cities during a short term power outage or during riots because of some injustice. It seems the innocent are the ones who will suffer. I don't want to give too much away so get this book. Stephen is a great writer and I plan on reading more if not all of his books. He, thankfully, avoids cursing and swearing or sexual situations. which I feel only detracts from good writing.
I really appreciate this clean and quality writing as do many readers I know! Keep up the good work!
