I've always changed strings using a combination of tools, this is like a swiss army knife putting everything you need in one place. All the parts work perfectly, and it definitely makes changing strings easier. If I had to criticise something, maybe the winding mechanism looks a bit flimsy and might not survive overly rough treatment, but then again, it lives in my guitar case so it's not going to get knocked around much.

The only real question is, is it worth a tenner to you to make the job of changing strings much easier, not to have to hunt around for the tools, and have it done easier and quicker. For me, now I'm in my 50s and can afford stuff, definite yes - maybe if I was still 15, starting off on the guitar and chronically short of money, I wouldn't have bothered.

This is best described as the perfect present for a guitar-playing Dad who's got everything :-)

Thought this would be great after reading all the positive reviews but sadly I found it to be rather poor.

Winder was not a snug fit and I found it easier just turning the keys by hand.

Pin remover was quite hit n miss to get in position to pull the pins, not very easy to use at all.

Wire cutters leave a few millimetres spike of wire that is perfect for giving you a trip to A&E. The design of them means you can't cut close enough in to leave it safe so you have to cut longer and bend excess to make it safe.

The only positive is it is a 3 in 1 tool but unfortunately it limps through it's three tasks unconvincingly.

Mine came apart on the first use, exactly like the review with photos show. I quickly screwed it back together and it was fine for the rest of the operation. That doesn't bode well for longevity but I've already decided to put this in a draw as reserve and invest in an electric winder.

Generally speaking, initial fault aside, this does seem well made. The wire cutters work very well, I wasn't convinced but they do the job perfectly. It doesn't feel cheap at all, so imagine my surprise when the winder end just came clean off. Thankfully it had unscrewed and not snapped, but still.

It's pretty easy to grip, I have XL hand size and it didn't feel awkwardly small.

However this thing is so annoying to use, the end wobbles around on the machine heads constantly. I swore my way through the entire restringing. In my opinion this will apply to all of these types of winders, branded or not, it's the way we need to use it that causes it to wobble around, versus an electric winder doing all the work.

If I were you I would buy quality wire/string cutters and a separate electric string winder, skip this combo option regardless of the price because your sanity will be spared.

I used this for the first time last week and this tool does the job intended really very well. Speeds up changing strings quite a bit and if you do as the pro's do as follows. Pull the string through and cut to length two tuning pegs up from the peg your string is going through. Pull back so you have about 15mm coming out of peg, bend to 90deg and then start winding on. You then have the ideal amount of string length to wind, so a lot less unnecessary turns and then less chance of string slippage.

This is the ultimate gadget for any guitarist electric or acoustic.

Basically if your restringing your acoustic you have a little pair of tweezers that will help you pull out the pins at the bridge and they work really well even on stubborn pins that have been forced in and left for years.

You also get a string winder which if you have never used one is one of the greatest inventions ever for restringing your guitar, when you try it for the first time you will wonder why you never bought one sooner. This one is a good size too and fits the machine heads on all my electric and acoustic guitars easily.

But in my opinion the best part is the string cutter. The two blades cross over each other unlike most plyers so when your trying to cut the thinner strings its a breeze, they easily cut through a gauge nine top E string without any hassell.

Basically this is all you need to restring any guitar in one small and handy tool that can fit easily in any guitar case or even your pocket.

I bought the bundle and got the lemon oil aswell and this works a treat at cleaning up the neck and somehow makes the neck feel faster and much nicer to play when you put it on.

Overall a splendid quality product and a must for any guitarist and at a really good price too.
