Product Description

Where did all the color go?

That’s the question an irrepressible little lion asks in “Guion the Lion: A Colorful World.”

Guion (rhymes with “lion”) is a rainbow-colored lion who stands out in a world of black and white. He wants to find a way to bring back the color, but how?

While on his quest, Guion encounters a variety of animals, each struggling with a unique problem. Always kind and friendly, he does his best to help.

To his delight, Guion eventually discovers that every time he helps someone, a little much-needed color comes back into the world.

By story’s end, even shy Pangolin and crabby Monkey have learned that it’s okay to give and receive help from someone who isn’t like them. It makes the world a more colorful place!

Fantastic book!
5.0 out of 5 stars This is a charming tale about Guion, the “rainbow-colored lion,” a lion trying to bring light back to the world ... 6 October 2016
By Deb - Published on Amazon.com
Guion the Lion smiled to himself as he “sprinted across the savannah.” Wait, there was something terribly wrong with the picture. There were hills, giraffes, and zebras, but not one bit of color in sight. It was most unusual and it was most certainly a “strange new land.” It was as if someone had turned out the lights because everything was dark, dusky, and gray. Guion took out his palette and began to paint. The gray rock certainly could benefit from a little color, but even though he painted it, the color didn’t stick. “Maybe,” he thought to himself, “the color got turned off — like a light switch.” It was going to be his job to turn it back on, but just where could he find it?

Guion peered into the bushes and under a rock. He dashed here and there across the savannah looking for that color switch. Here and there, there and here, but no success. Guion did find Ostrich with her head stuck in the sand. Help, help! And that he did. He helped Ostrich get unstuck and off he went, once again looking for that color switch. Next Guion ran into Pangolin and almost squished him. “I’m late,” exclaimed Pangolin, “I’m rolling to the river as fast as I can.” Help, help! Guion helped Pangolin get to the river, but there didn’t seem to be anyone around to help him find that color switch!

Surely Monkey wouldn’t be able to help Guion because he had problems of his own. “See those delicious berries?” he said to the little lion. “I’m starving, but I can’t swim.” Help, help! No doubt Guion would help him, but he was beginning to wonder if he’d ever find that color switch. The beach was gray as were the waves, the skies, and the island in the distance. Perhaps there would be time in the morning to start his search again, but it looked like Guion the Lion, just might have to settle for a gray world.

This is a charming tale about Guion, the “rainbow-colored lion,” a lion trying to bring light back to the world. Young children will enjoy traveling with Guion as he tries to find that elusive color switch that will bring color back to the animals in the savannah. The artwork is very vibrant and quite appealing. I did love Guion and was quite enamored by both him and his tale. This book can be read by the confident reader with some assistance with words such as awkwardly, frenzied, and mingling. The perfect place for Guion the lion, of course, would be during circle or storytime where little children can help him in his search!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Charming Story with A Very Important Lesson 15 June 2015
By Dee Long - Published on Amazon.com
This charming tale about how a group of animals helps transform a dull, gray world, led by the colorful lion Guion, teaches one of the most important lessons that youngsters can learn today to make the world a more peaceful place. Everyone may look and think differently, but everyone has something to contribute, and when just one individual puts forth the effort to help another individual in need, amazing things can happen.
