5.0 out of 5 stars Simply beautiful. 23 July 2015

No spoilers on this review.

This book was suggested to me by my BFF who is a book lover like me. I was already in love with the cover and after reading the summary I was hooked.
At first I have to be honest and say I was not happy with the heroine, Sam, for letting people treat her the way they were cough cough Camaron cough cough. It takes a while but you understand as the story progresses their complicated friendship and how sometimes in order to be happy you need to sail away instead of holding to your anchor.
This book really touched me and got me emotional several times, especially when Sam meets Ma, a character I dare you not to love. She's simply amazing and her lessons of life are just by its own a must read.
I cannot wait for the sequel but now excuse me because I'm gonna go get a tattoo by a prick and also a pink t-shirt ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars Guided Love is beautiful, intense, angsty, raw, and emotional as well as full of smiles and laughs. 14 July 2015

I honestly don't know how to explain how much I loved this book!

I am not going to summarize the book, because you have to read it as each situation happens to understand the journey this story takes you on.

First of all, I can barely stand love triangles. But THIS ONE... this one was completely different than anything I expected. I loved the premise of this book. Two best friends that are nearly inseparable, running into life's brick walls.

Sam is REAL! She is a real woman with real insecurities and real hopes and dreams. She loves her best friend, Camaron, the way I believe a lot of women have loved a man before. And she runs into the obstacles in life that can tear us down in a heartbeat.

Camaron is the kind of character you love and hate at the same time. He makes mistakes, but as a man who just can't quite figure out what he wants in life, this makes his character so unique and loveable!

Axel... oh Axel! He is mine!
I love him so much and the way he climbs into Samantha's world and changes everything. He's intense but compassionate and takes care of the people he loves.

Ellie! This woman will change your life! The messages in this book will stick with you for a very long time and she helps Sam in ways no one else could.

~"Are you sure that I should pick these? They look like pretty little flowers."
"Oh doll face, don't let that fool you. Just because it looks pretty doesn't mean that it won't suck the life out of you."~

Sam discovers that sometimes life has plans of its own. The way she grows throughout the entire book is what makes me love her character so much.
And the steamy scenes?? YES PLEASE!

This story is about friendship, love, loss, family, and learning that life guides you where you are SUPPOSED to go.
Guided Love is beautiful and intense and angsty and raw and emotional as well as full of smiles and laughs.

"Through the rough waters, I will find my way home."

Each and EVERY character is necessary and so well written... even the ones you want to imagine dying a slow and painful death (you'll see who I am talking about when you read the book)

Tracie Redmond has honestly blown me away with her debut novel, Guided Love! And I can't freaking wait for more!!!!!

5+ STARS that I just can't get enough of!

4.0 out of 5 stars Love, Dispair, Disgust, Anguish.... You feel them all 18 August 2015

When I started this book I'd seen many reviews and comments about getting tattooed by a prick.

Let me just say that the name of the tattoo parlor is BRILLIANT. The fact that it's based in PA - the state I call home - is great too.

I'm going to start off telling you straight up that I really enjoyed this book, story, and would recommend it to others. The story is something I think a lot of people can relate to if you grew up with a close male friend. Sometimes feelings get confused, lines get crossed, and friendship love and romantic love get mixed up. This story takes you on a journey like this.

The heroine is not one of my favorites, BUT that isn't a negative toward the book. Sam (heroine) is just a personality that I don't completely relate to. Never the less, her journey does touch on some emotions I remember when I was younger.

Camaron was a selfish wishy-washy a-hole, which turned me off. His level of neediness was borderline crazy. Again, this is the way the character is supposed to be, so it's I'm not being negative against the story itself or the cast involved.

Axel sometimes was too much of a white knight and on occasion I wanted him to just take the bold alpha-male move. BUT this would've changed the outcome, so I get it.

Guided Love sends you on a roller coaster of teen/early adult nostalgia: crushes, unrequited love, and a broken heart. Just before it sends you shooting straight into a romantic, meant to be love of a lifetime.

I told you about the characters above and sure I didn't like some of them or some things about them, but that is because their role in this story is written SO well. Camaron, Sam, and Axel all have a role and no matter how much I dislike a moment or an action, it invoked the right emotion for the part of the story I was reading.

My BIGGEST love/hate moment is the crescendo of Sam & Camaron's relationship. I don't want to spoil it, but there is a tipping point when you feel disgusted, ashamed, and gutted - not just for the characters involved. But because you KNOW you've had a relationship come to this 'type' of point and change forever. (Perhaps not in the same manor, but...)

Overall... read Guided Love. Embrace every emotion you get, because that is what this story is about.

5.0 out of 5 stars To be a Prick 17 July 2015

I have so much to say I honestly don't know where to start. Well uh first off I LOVED IT. The characters were vibrant, alive and so relatable I honestly felt a connection. This author has done great. I started out absolutely despising Cam and the person that inspired him I can see bits but overall he's an amazing guy ( hugs J).

The character of Sam was beyond raw and real. I related to her insecurities, moods and thoughts about her best friend, Hell I've been in a similar situation I think many of us have. Which makes it so real and reliable. As Sam grows, and realises the harsh truth you can't help but fight along side her as she turns into this amazing revamped woman. It's like watching a butterfly emerge from its cocoon. Simply beautiful.

Axel was the one I constantly cheered for he was the obvious hero right from the get go. You couldn't help but be in his cheering section as he provided repeatedly just how amazing he was and so perfect for Sam.
The secondary players fit in well, the guys had just enough input to bring life too the story and give it the perfect amount of craziness it needed. Then there's
Roni, ohhhh how I would soon love to put her in her place. I've met many like her, I've gone many rounds with her twins and I can say she was written perfectly for what she was. Never let a Roni treat you horribly please people you deserve so much better.

Finally there's Ms. Ellie, she's the right blend of mom, mentor, guiding angel and hero. Everyone deserves someone like that. Her wisdom in the story was very real, something to remember after you finish the book. I know a lady just like her and she's like my second mother.

The author has brought each character to life in such a way your going to want to keep this book on your favorites list and get her others as they come out. I can tell you now this author has my support, my thanks for going into the type of stuff that some avoid directing attention to. And she has my warmest regards and best wishes. You've done an amazing job my dear.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tears, laughter, anger, heartache, sadness and happiness all wrapped together in this truly amazing love story. 16 July 2015

I am thoroughly impressed that this is Tracie Redmond's first novel. She was able to develop all the characters and emotions throughout the whole story. This is not just another love triangle love story. It is a beautifully written story of loving with your whole being and then the realization of what true love really is and how love should be reciprocated. This book takes you through the emotions of life and love. l I had a hard time putting the book down and stayed up half the night just to finish. The characters became like real people to me and I cannot wait to read more from this author.

Ellie - I love Ellie and her life lessons. She was able to bring it home for me a put some of my own insecurities in perspective. Ellie's words of wisdom gave a few ah-ha moments.

Camaron - Holy cow - he is one lucky person that he is confined to the pages of a book. He does not want to meet me in a dark alley that is for sure. He is a very troubled soul.

Sam - Love that girl. I was able to relate to her character through every twist and turn she went through. I cried with her, I laughed with her and I cheered her on throughout the whole book.

Axel - What can I say - I found a new BBF.
