Edwina Shaw is an Australian writer of fiction, memoir and screenplays. She is also an editor and workshop facilitator.

Her novel, Thrill Seekers, based on her brother’s battle with adolescent onset schizophrenia, was shortlisted for the NSW Premier’s Award for New Writing and was released as a new imprint by Raven Books UK in 2019. In the Dark of Night (Ransom UK), her chapter book for young readers, was selected for the 2016/17 National Library Summer Reading Club.

Since 2002, over 40 of her short pieces have been published in Australian and international journals, including Best Australian Stories, Griffith Review and Asia Literary Review. Her feature film screenplay M inspired by her novel MS “Dear Madman” was awarded 2018 Talent Development funding from Screen Queensland and is currently under development.

She is the commissioning and contributing editor of Bjelke Blues- Stories of Resistance and Repression in Bjelke-Petersen’s QLD1960s – 1980s (AndAlso Books 2019). Most recently she is a contributing co-editor of Our Inside Voices – Reflections on COVID-19 (AndAlso Books 2020).

She teaches creative writing at the University of Queensland, for the QLD Writers Centre, to Forgotten Australians at Lotus Place, and in the community. Edwina is the coordinator of Relax and Write Retreats for women that combine yoga and writing. She also specialises in 'The Healing Power of Story' and 'Moving Through Grief' workshops and is passionate about the potential of writing and other creative arts in helping to process trauma. She lives in Brisbane with an assortment of snakes, bush turkeys and possums.
