Product Description

A standalone romance from the New York Times bestselling author of Archer's Voice.

Kira Dallaire is desperate.

Some challenges in life seem too hard to overcome. With little money, and even fewer options, the quick-witted and vibrant twenty-two-year-old needs to reinvent herself. Known for her generous heart and impulsive personality, she devises a survival plan, possibly her most outrageous idea yet.

Grayson Hawthorn is losing hope.

Some obstacles in life seem too hard to overcome. Betrayal definitely being one of them. With limited capital, and dwindling resources, he is attempting to resurrect his failing family vineyard, a self-imposed vow seemingly destined to fail. That is until a young woman enters his office with an outlandish, unexpected proposition impossible to refuse.

What begins as a temporary business arrangement, soon evolves into more as vivacious, spirited Kira challenges detached, arrogant Grayson to want more from life. To want more for himself. But as their wills clash and fiery passion ignites, they'll realize that sometimes the past creates walls too difficult to climb, and that lies and deception rarely precede a happily every after.

As Kira and Grayson race toward their destiny, they will discover that some vows are meant to be broken, and others are worth risking everything for . . . even your very own heart.

THIS IS A STAND-ALONE SIGN OF LOVE NOVEL, INSPIRED BY LIBRA. New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

Mia Sheridan just has a way with words that makes your heart clench. Her stories never fail to stir all my emotions and make me feel like I know the characters deepest thoughts. I actually bought this book months ago but put off reading it as I knew once I started I'd be doing little else. Again, it didn't disappoint but it was also not what I expected - quite original and different to her other novels, beautiful but far more mainstream. This is a story in which you have more than an inkling on where it's already headed, but the feelings involved are extreme and it unveils things slowly like an onion and by the end you realise how complex it is. I devoured this book in a night, unable to stop reading until I finished, as I enjoyed everything about Grayson and Kira's story. The scenery, the backstory, the characters and the entire heartache just all fell together perfectly. What all started as a business transaction, proposition, a bout of desperation by both of them turned out to be so much more.
Kira Dallaire and Grayson Hawthorn are two people who have very similar backgrounds, two broken souls struggling to find their way in life, desperate to do anything just to continue to survive. The only difference is that Kira has this light in her and one of the most generous hearts, despite what she's been through. Grayson, on the other hand, has always been on the brink of giving up. He always saw the negative side of things. As Grayson so eloquently thinks "I understood the pain of being a constant disappointment. But how had she retained that free, open spirit in the midst of nothing but coldness and contempt? How had she risen above it?

Fiction being fiction, authors are often wont to bend the rules, so when it comes to dragons, anyone who's read as much about them as I have knows that there is no simple set definition of what a dragon is, or what they're really like.
Sometimes they're cunning and crafty. Beasts with no interests beyond their own, but other times? Other times they're the most noble of creatures, capable of almost infinite sorrow and completely unconditional love.

In Grayson's Vow, by Mia Sheridan, Kira approaches Grayson, out of the blue with a most unconventional proposal, but one that could potentially solve each of their financial woes.

In that first face to face meeting, she mentally likens him to a dragon, and in her mind, its the former kind I mentioned. scaly and sly, prone to slither around in dank musty holes in the ground ... you get the drift. Fortunately, her proposal doesn't require either of them to like each other for it to work, and as the story progresses, she comes to realize that he's actually much more like the latter kind of dragon. Noble while bearing immeasurable sorrow, all the while capable of an unfathomable love.

This was the first of Mia's books I've read. (The wife has read them all, and has sung their praises to the sky) Fortunately for me, the 'Signs of Love' series is one that isn't linked by characters or interrelated situations, but by a concept. Each story is inspired by one of the signs of the zodiac, and in this particular case, Libra.

This narrative is well worth a read...a 4.5. I felt it didn't quite reach the depths of Archer's Voice, as the first third of the book didn't seem to entice you from the opening pages onwards, like A V did. My opinion, only, of course. Nevertheless, the characters were well-defined, relatable and, well... just gorgeous. The plot was solid and well-developed, too.

In the books I've read so far, Mia's clever writing skills show her capacity to create engaging descriptions and to totally reveal the inner-voice of the main characters in a completely engrosing way...from start to finish. The connection she is able to make with readers is remarkable. Not to say the book doesn't achieve a good measure of these qualities, but this story is lighter, not as complex and just missed the mark, ever so slightly, in comparison to other Sheridan titles, at least until about the final half of the tale.

However Mia and Grayson's challenging and touching journey towards love is both sensitive and charming. The 'magical' references give an interesting perspective, too.

By-the-by, the cover is so appealing...well chosen!

All the reviews point to Graysons hotness etc but truly it took me until the epilogue to like him. Knowing the bad things he's been dealt made me feel guilty & I can understand why he's they way he is. It's just Kira was so god damn selfless to him & everyone & he treated her like crap. Ok they did connect but then he threw it away.

Of course he comes to his senses but Kiras life wasn't easy either & she has such a positive attitude to deal with all her drama. Yes the brutality of Graysons life continues, poor guy couldn't win a break. His only saving grace is Kira but I don't think he deserved her. I'm sure some people won't be happy with my opinion but this is my interpretation of the story. She really must have loved the guy!
