This installment in the Dr. Richards' Littles series is a Little bit different from the more recent books in this series. There is good, not quite so good and some downright ugly comments here.
First, the good: Grace is a new character in the DRL series. She's more full-figured than most of the other Littles proving that being Little is not about size. (Note: There are other characters in the series that are also more of a BBW than a petite XXS.) Grace's lonely life as a pastry chef will be a relatable character to some readers. Her willingness to be of help to others is admirable as she struggles with her self-confidence.
The "not quite so good" relates to the fact that Pepper North is departing from what made the earlier books so popular. This volume contains action of a different sort with a Little suspense and sadness. I enjoyed that aspect of the book, but also missed a lot of the playful interaction between other Littles from the series. They appear here, but more as side note, offering support to Grace but with a lesser role than in the other books.
The ugly: It has been 24 books of this series and the proofreading errors are still as bad as they were in Zoey's book 1. It's getting very old.
