I think Tessa Dare is becoming more witty with each book. ‘Governess Game’ so much fun. There are great characters. The seven year old girl whose doll expires daily from various diseases ; her ten year old sister who trusts no one, while issuing cynical one liners; and heroine Alexandra, who crushes on a rake who flirts with her in a bookshop.
Bringing them all together is a ducal heir who hates himself for inheriting over his dead cousin. He hires Alexandra as a governess for his two wards. Then fun, desire and chaos follow. I loved this slightly less than the wonderful “Duchess Deal”, the first in this series. But it’s still a great read with laughs galore and a few tears as well. Highly recommended.
Tessa Dare's latest novel, ‘The Governess Game: Girl Meets Duke” is a familiar trope of a governess falling for the handsome guardian of precocious children and yet... this novel is unexpected and quite lovely...
Alexandra Mountbatten is singularly unique for her time. Strong minded, exotic and quick as a wip... Chase Reynaud is a libertine, a rake and unapologetic. He is also guardian to two girls who have chased off many a governess.
Some of the best moments in this book are between Alex and the girls. Her kind, compassionate nature is a driving force in her relationship with the orphans that are both funny.
I cheered for everyone of these characters. Congrats Ms. Dare again...
I loved this book...there’s wit mixed in with wonderful characters, lovers friends and lots of laughter and learning ...great job Ms Dare methinks the darelings won’t mind a bit 😀 Fellow readers enjoy.
This certainly lives up to it’s name, an unputdownable book. I had to sleep though. Wicked, funny, educational (I learned a lot about astronomy), and quirky friends. A book all about independent, strong women. A must for a new read in 2019.
