Product description

Review

This picture book was written and beautifully illustrated by the author, Tabbatha Bella. The illustrations are done in a soft water color which nicely mellows out the story topic of the death of a dog. It is also an advocacy for families to rescue an animal from the Animal Shelter.

-Rockin’ Book Reviews

The quality of the cover (and back cover), and the illustrations inside, are both alluring and beautifully colored. I did enjoy going through the parent’s memories. It is a nice heartfelt story that kids can relate to-also rhyming is fun. The text is easy to read.

-Florida Writer’s Association RPLA Committee

Goodbye Poonjab by Tabbatha Bella is a heartwarming story of loss and love. It’s a beautiful story that teaches children to love despite the loss they will face in their lives, and it also encourages them to adopt pets from local shelters. The illustrations are bright and colorful and they not only breathe life into the characters, but also give good pace and movement to the story and scenes.

About the Author

Tabbatha Bella, an award-winning author and visual artist, has exhibited her art in galleries both nationally and abroad. Her painting, Resurrection, a tribute to the souls lost in the September 11th tragedy, was presented to the New York City Mayor's office in 2001 as a gift to the people of New York. An interesting fact about Tabbatha Bella, she is an Atlanta native and grew up hearing her grandmother's memories and stories about her third cousin, Margaret Mitchell. Tabbatha uses her artistic skills to illustrate her own books. Her children's book, Goodbye Poonjab, was nominated for the Caldecott and Geisel. Her new middle grade title, Misha the Brave, was nominated for the 2018 Newbery and Hornbook. Tabbatha Bella is active in bringing awareness to dyslexia, dyscalculia, and the importance of literacy. Her paperback books are formatted to aid people with dyslexia, Irlene Syndrome, those who often get headaches when they read, vision issues, and those who enjoy an easier read with generous formatting and white space. Her hardback books are formatted in a more traditional style. Tabbatha Bella is a member of the Atlanta Writer's Club, Georgia Writer's Association, Florida Writer's Association, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
