What the readers say:

5 Star

"I highly suggest this novella for anyone who wants a little inspiration. Following Linda on her journey made me feel like I'm capable of doing it myself if I ever need to. I laughed with her, I cried with her, and I felt like I should reflect on my own life with her. It was a very touching read, and it isn't long at all. It'll fly by, but it's worth every second." Alex, Sept 2015

"The story is not just about romance but of finding yourself in the murkiness of your own life. It is not easy to break old habits. The author does an excellent job of writing Linda's struggles as she transforms into a new person. I'm glad the author slowly developed Linda's many stages of grief. She goes through anger, guilt, denial and a sense of loss in a mature way. The emotions were raw and exposed a side that many of us go through when facing new challenges. The book is a short read, but it is packed with laughter, tears and gives the readers a look at life and what their purpose may be." Deanna, Sept 2015

5.0 out of 5 stars An inspiring story 17 December 2016

This sweet story really speaks to a lot of women who are starting their life anew later in life. Linda has been married for 35 years to a man who is emotionally abusive and almost kills her spirit. Almost. It takes her 18 months after he dies to gain the strength to become her own woman again. An idyllic trip to Fiji and a romance with an aging horseback riding instructor shows her that life is still very much worth living. Very well written, funny, and inspiring.

I’ll be honest; I was pleasantly surprised by Goodbye, Hello. It’s a great new coming of age novella that just about anyone can relate to.

I think the themes and plot of this story are the reason I liked it so much. Even though I’m not the same age as Linda, her story is just so relatable. She realizes that she is unhappy with her life and has been for a while. Her deceased husband is still controlling her life, which depresses her and enforces just how unhappy she is. Realizing it’s not too late, she vows to make and follow through with her own plans for her future. Through her journey, she learns who is she actually is, what she stands for, and what she wants her life to be. She doesn’t just wake up a new woman, which shows the struggle that many people go through. Wanting a new life is different from actually creating a new one. Changing takes time for everyone, just as it does for Linda. She’s bitter and grieving, and it takes her some time to let go of her past. The realistic portrayal of human emotions as life goes by really grabbed my attention.

I also really liked this story because the writing was engaging, easy to follow, and filled with humor. I really wanted to see Linda succeed on her journey to self-actualization, and I felt myself empathizing with her because I know what it’s like to question who you are and feel that there must be a greater meaning to everything. The honesty in this novella is very touching and heartfelt and made me feel like I was a part of something greater than myself.

I highly suggest this novella for anyone who wants a little inspiration. Following Linda on her journey made me feel like I’m capable of doing it myself if I ever need to. I laughed with her, I cried with her, and I felt like I should reflect on my own life with her. It was a very touching read, and it isn’t long at all. It’ll fly by, but it’s worth every second.
5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Coming of Age Romance Story 12 September 2016

A beautifully written coming of age story which highlights that it is never too late to start over, never feel stuck in a situation due to fear of the unknown. This story is engaging from the first page, I read it in one sitting. You're drawn into the mindset and emotional battles of Linda, slowly we watch her rebel and become liberated in every way, emotionally, physically with her appearance, personality wise and even sexually. This is an empowering story, and a must read for any women who is in two minds about her future. Seek out your own happiness don't rely on someone else to make it for you is the message I got from this story. I was routing for Linda all the way and so happy that she found love the second time around, or at least a sense of what love should really feel like once she became unshackled from her monster of her late husband. I have never read anything by this author before, but I certainly would. Good character development, believable and relate-able story line told in a fast paced nature. You are on a journey with Linda.
