Product Description

Is it possible to leave it all behind?

The firstborn of a large Irish-American family, Meg Brennan Roberts is a successful publicist, faithful wife, and doting mother who prides herself on always making the right decisions. But years of being “the good woman” have taken a toll and though her winery career thrives, Meg feels burned out and empty, and more disconnected than ever from her increasingly distant husband. Lonely and disheartened, she attends the London Wine Fair with her boss, ruggedly handsome vintner, Chad Hallahan. It’s here, alone together in an exotic city, far from “real” life, that Chad confesses his long-standing desire for Meg.

Overwhelmed, flattered, and desperately confused, Meg returns home, only to suddenly question every choice she’s ever made, especially that of her marriage. For Meg, something’s got to give, and for once in her life she flees her responsibilities—but with consequences as reckless and irreversible as they are liberating. Now she must decide whether being the person everyone needs is worth losing the woman she was meant to be.

Growing up as a good girl doing everything right, Meg is brought to a cross road in her life between doing what's right and doing what feels right for her happiness. She chooses what feels right to herself and then lives to regret the actions she has made. Many women have thoughts or have given in to those thoughts of another man. But, how would you react if you were in Meg's shoes? This book was written beautifully and makes you feels like you are right there with her and part of her family. I wasn't ready for it to end yet. I can't wait for the next book to come out. I'll be counting down the days. I have been a Jane Porter fan for many years and this book is right up there with the rest of her books, a wonderful entertaining read.

This book was a great way start the series, the Irish Catholic family rang a few bells for me! The storyline is one that I personally related with Meg. I can't wait to read the next book! Thank you Jane Porter for a fantastic book!
5.0 out of 5 stars Sisters are the best! 31 October 2013

This is the first book that I have LOVED while not loving the main character. Don't get me wrong...Meg is a well-developed character; I just didn't love her. I wasn't happy with her actions--I wished she'd made different choices. She took the easy way out and paid dearly. There is more to her story than her mistake and it's repercussions, however. Enter Chad--the smoking hot catalyst here: his part in this story is worth savoring. This is really a wonderfully written story and it's the first in Jane's Brennan Sisters trilogy. Each sister's story is a must-read!

Open note to Jane: please please please write Chad's story somehow, someway, some day! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite books! 28 March 2014

One of my all time favorite books! Jane Porter's characters and scenery capture you right from the start. She deals with sensitive subjects in a way that will make you surprised at your own feelings. This is the first in a series about an Irish Catholic family and the turmoils that life throws their way. I think I'm so drawn to it because it deals with the real challenges that we all go through that is made a little easier when we have support from the people we love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book 9 March 2013
By KF - Published on Amazon.com

I was a little unsure about this book as it was not in the usual genre I read, but upon the recommendation of a friend I read it. The story and the relationsips between the sisters was very genuine and what sometimes is seen within a family. I cried, I laughed, and cried some more. I became very attached to these characters very quickly. Upon fininshing I immediately began searching for additional novels by Jane Porter. I will definitely be buying more of her books!
