'Taut, tense and darkly addictive' -- Candice Fox
Narrator Aoife McMahon returns to bring us Book 3 of the Cormac Reilly series. McMahon's soft Irish accent is perfectly in tune with the Irish detective and his colleagues, who include Detective Peter Fisher, here taking center stage. Three dramatic subplots eventually come together in this suspenseful story of drugs, police corruption, and family relationships. Through well-written action scenes, listeners experience the strengths and flaws of the lead characters. McMahon skillfully voices the female characters, including a traumatized little girl. She also effectively differentiates the male characters. Listeners will be drawn into this timely story of the complex nature of police work and the authentic desire of good police officers to serve the public well. -- AudioFile Magazine

At times I wondered if this was a story about Cormac or Peter, and how they related. Then the whole thing got darker - Both detectives seeking their futures ending in disgrace.
Then it turned around quickly - an arrest - a surprise finding of evidence - and an exciting ending to wrap up all the conspirency and see the bent police off. Very satisfying, particularly Brian Murphy.
I guess that I struggled in parts through the novel, but certainly enjoyed if as it came to the climax.
Will Cormac return in edition four? I hope so, with Fisher along side him.
Well done Dervla

It's not just the first disc either, it's the same on all 9 CDs. I've struggled my way to the third CD, but I'm ready to give up. I should have just 'spent' an Audible credit and bought the audiobook that way, but I wanted to be able to pass the CDs on to a friend when I finished the book.
EDITED : Upon seeing my previous comments, the publisher quickly contacted me. Within a week, they sent me a new set of CDs that are in the proper order. Kudos to them for their quick and helpful response!
I finished listening to the book this week and am happy to say the story was just as good as I'd hoped it would be. I hope the series continues, as I'm eager to see what happens next with Cormac, Peter and the rest.
