Product Description

Addison Wanks, rock'n'roll's favorite daughter, is good at keeping secrets.

Secret One

She's responsible for the long-standing feud between her father's band, Wanks and Janks, and younger band Wild Minds. She may or may not have let Wild Minds' sexy bad-boy lead singer Warren defile her backstage at a concert. Okay, she totally did.

Secret Two

She's supposed to be attending college but instead skips town to follow Wild Minds on their European tour. Addy adores Warren Price.

Secret Three

Europe doesn't go so hot. Her sexy lead singer turned out to be king of the assholes. He's arrogant, demanding and controlling. Addy loathes Warren Price. Oh, well.

Secret Four

Fast forward a few years and Addy is planning to attend her father's farewell tour when she hears the news—Wild Minds is back in the good graces of Wanks and Janks. The two bands will be headlining together. This is going to make avoiding Warren difficult. Especially since it seems Warren doesn't want to be ignored. He also doesn't want a divorce. That's right, Addy is married to the Wild Minds front man. Shh. Don't tell.

What will happen when all Addy's secrets are revealed?

One thing I know for sure, I will be impatiently waiting for the next Wild Minds book from Charlotte West. Good Lies, West’s debut novel and first in the WM series, was a wonderful surprise, filled with romance, humor, and family dynamics that had me turning the pages as quickly as I could.

There are so many things to love about this book. I loved Addy. Though she may have let all the secrets linger just a tad too long, her motivations rang true for most of the book and I loved the depth that West gave to her. Addy’s background is not swept under the rug, her daddy issues are just as important as her struggles with her husband, and her insecurities drive the story. It was obvious that Good Lies had a depth to it that I don’t always find in romance novels. Of course, there’s the “misunderstanding” that’s always present in a second chance romance, but even though I’m not a big fan of the “not talking things out which results in a (insert period of time) separation”, the event the leads to Warren and Addy being apart for 3 years felt true because they were basically kids when it happens and kids say and do stupid things.

At the heart of Good Lies is the relationship Addy has with her father, Billy, and her husband, Warren. Left for 4 days with no food after her mother dies of an overdose at the age of 4, Addy has abandonment issues. Though she’s inherited her father’s wild side, she’s always anxious that she’ll do something to lose him. When he catches her and Warren together after a concert, he sends her away, cementing her belief that she’ll lose his love if she makes him angry.

When Addy and Warren meet, they’re both really young, 17 and barely 19.

As soon as they met, Addison Wanks, rock'n'roll's favorite daughter, and Warren Price, a rising rock star, felt a connection. Although her father tried to keep them apart, when they meet again, it's explosive and Addison decides to follow Warren and the Wild Minds on their European tour. Addison and Warren fall deeply in love and end up getting married. But a misunderstanding makes Addison leave Warren and return to the US.
Fast forward four years, Addison and Warren are meeting again. She wants him to sign their divorce papers. He wants his wife back. Will Warren win Addison back? Or will he sign the divorce papers?

I loved Good Lies! The story took me in a rollercoaster ride of emotions and I couldn't stop reading. I laughed and cried a lot! All the drama and secrets hooked me from the first page and the banter between Addison and Warren was hilarious. The chemistry between them is off the charts!
I loved all the flashbacks showing how Addy and War's relationship developed.

Addison Wanks is the daughter of Billy Wanks, a rock god. She was raised by him, his band and a whole lot of tutors and nannies. She is very sweet and kind, but also very strong and independent. She's afraid of what will happen when her father finds out about her relationship with Warren, so she keeps it a secret.
Warren Price loves Addison and wants the world to know it. He's rock'n'roll's bad boy but he only wants Addy, his wife. He's very possessive and protective of her, but also very sweet and gentle. I loved how he always fought for their relationship.

This was my first book by Charlotte West and she didn't disappoint! Good Lies is an intense book, with lots of drama, secrets, laughter and sexy scenes. The characters are amazing and it's really easy to connect with them. I can't wait to read more about the Wild Minds!

** I received a free review copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.**

I loved, loved, loved this book! I requested an advanced reader’s copy, and I am so glad that I did. I loved Addy and War’s story. Once I started reading, it was almost impossible to put it down.

Addison Wanks is abandoned at a young age when her drug-addicted mother overdoses. Found clutching a photo of a famous rock star and saying one word, “Papa”, she is a surprise to her famous twenty-two year old father. She is the four year old daughter he never knew existed, and he is not exactly father material. As Addy grows and is raised in the unconventional world her father inhabits, he has one rule that he will not bend on – she must never get involved with a rock star. Addy is as headstrong and as impulsive as her father. She is also a pretty good liar.

This story took me by surprise. I loved the ragtag band(s) of musicians and the people who supported and surrounded them – both her father’s band and Warren’s band. At times I hated her father. He was pretty immature and manipulative, always wanting his own way. At times I really disliked Addy. She was just like him, but I could see that she had potential. It was easy to forgive her for the way she was. I loved Warren Price from the moment he entered the story. He was so real and so good for Addy. Of course he’s a temperamental, alpha male rock musician, given to over the top gestures, and of course, there’s conflict and there’s angst.

This was just a damned good read. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to the other books in the series. I highly recommend this one!

4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining and fun read 11 May 2017

4-4.5 stars. Addison Wanks may be the illegitimate daughter of famous rockstar Billy Wanks, but she avoids the direct spotlight as much as possible. She has some deep seated fears that include abandonment from the people she loves, and they are justified from her childhood experiences. So while she chooses to live her life in her own way, she also realizes there are consequences to her actions, but she's not quite ready to face those head-on yet. That would include Warren Price, the man she loved with all of her heart but he wound up deceiving her in the worst way.

I really loved the tone of this story, it's all in Addy's POV and she's extremely entertaining as well as all of the other characters. At the same time, my heart tugged at her insecurities because they were so real and scary to her. She's got a great sense of humor, is fiercely independent and her stubbornness could rival a mule, but her first instinct is to always cut and run whenever things get difficult or there's a possibility of a confrontation with an outcome that she cannot live with. Initially, it was understandable, but when more and more people started becoming collateral to her lies, it became frustrating. Yet, despite all of that, I could see how much love and support she had from other people who cared about her deeply.

The two main men in Addison's life - Billy, her dad, and Warren, her estranged husband, are at odds with each other and a lot of that has to do with Addison. I went back and forth with Billy, but in the end, I saw a father who was young rockstar at the time and did the best that he could with the most purest of intentions. As for Warren, I loved him and his persistence and devotion. I was skeptical at first, but quickly realized just how well he balanced out Addison. This is a great start to a series and not the typical rocker storyline, but I'm looking forward to reading more about the other characters in the future.

This was a good debut novel that had a little bit of everything: steam, humor, snarky banter, and a whole cast of rock and rollers. Under the guise of seeming!y quirky characters were flawed people and serious issues such as fear of abandonment, fear of letting down loved ones and running away in the face of difficult situations. Despite some of the heavy undertones, this was fast paced, low on angst and an overall enjoyable story that kept me entertained and turning the pages.......d:)

This was just ok for me. The main characters frustrated the hell out of me. While I understood Addy's motivations in this book to a degree, she really drove me crazy with her choices. I also didn't love Warren's excuse for what Addy overhead that caused her to leave him.

I received an earc from the author for the purpose of honest review
Honestly I think West is an author that you need to get on fast. If you love rockstars, secret romances and more. This is the book for you. The blurb might catch your attention but the book is amazing. It like some of my favourite rockstar books. Angst, steamy and plenty of hard loving and drama that will keep you entertained into the very last page.
Even though I finished reading this book, a couple of days ago, I’m itching for a re-read as I enjoyed the characters and their stories. Determined to engrave their story into my brain whilst I wait for the next book.
Good Lies introduces to a world where secrets are the name to the game and kept the house of cards from falling down.
Addison Wanks is the only child of a rock and roll superstar. She used to the famous lifestyle but she prefers to go under the radar thanks to the baggage she carrying. Why you asked, she the keeper of secrets something she has deal with for a long time. The best being the reason for the feud between her dad’s band Wanks and Janks and Wild Mind. The hottest band on the scene at the moment and for four years those secrets have been safe. Until the good lies start catching up and everything start to unravels.
As the bands have made up and Warren is back in her life whether she likes it or not. Warren the key to unlocking her secrets and everything she put behind her. Warren Price the boy she happens to be married to and a secret relationship with. The reason why she has all these secrets and lies. So what a girl going to do ?
As Warren Price is your typical rockstar and when it comes ot Addy he is a whole new level. Strap yourself in and get ready as Warren isn’t going to divorce Addy. She is his, and he isn’t going to let some lies get away. Warren may be the hottest thing around but he only has eyes for Addy. However when you are in the spotlight , nothing going to stay a secret
Good lies is not just another rockstar story. It has heart stiring moments and real felt emotions as everything from the past fours years come to head. Addy and War were like any other couple going through their fair share problems. Only they were in the spotlight. It was fun yet it sweet and sexy. I couldn’t’ get enough of their story. Plus it wasn’t just there’s. It took all the characters to bring this story to life as there was a lot going on . For a debut, I couldn’t fault it really. It was well written and paced well.
West is a debut author to watch out for and with more in store for this year. Now is the perfect time to get on Wild Minds band wagon and join the ride
