More fabulous Four Horseman stories

This is the third installment of collected short stories set in the 4H world, and is yet another collection of absolute cracker stories. I have eagerly awaited and bought every book in this Universe, as the diversity of imagination, breadth of scope, and sheer depth that each of the authors have brought to the Universe have kept me wanting more and more. This newest collection is no different, and when someone of the caliber of David Drake steps up for a Forward, you know it is not your average ‘Pulp Fiction’. All of the stories shine, and all for different reasons - I love the detail of the novels, and the fact that they allow a broader and deeper dive into a story, however the short-story format is even more challenging to write, and this is a classic example of ‘Done well!’. Each of the stories is a snippet, a fragment in time, and will leave you going ‘wow’ or just wishing you had more of it. I am not going to single any of the individual authors out, as they are all good - just like the the previous collections. Simply put, if you like the 4H worlds, just get this. You will not regret it.

This is the third and final (so far!) anthology for the Four Horseman Universe. This one is probably the best one so far. It's got excellent stories, and some of them lead onto books that are being released now, or are about to be released.
This universe is expanding at a rapid rate, and with a current release rate of at least one book a month, and possibly more, it's going to keep going for a long time.

Chris and Mark have done another great job of choosing select authors, including themselves, for us to enjoy. For example, “The Beach” in its depiction of a Normandy type invasion on an alien shore but from a corpsman perspective is particularly good. Also we get connections to Cartwright’s Cavaliers and others of my favorite groups of people. Great work!

I received an advanced copy of this book a few weeks ago, and it was every bit as entertaining as its predecessors in the series. I was glancing at the other reviews, and the comment about Earth's most valuable commodity being mercenaries made me think of the movie "Wall Street". There's an alien race of Gordon Gecko's trying to corner the market. Greed is universal, as is the extension of politics by other means. If you enjoy good stories you will enjoy this book. Despite getting it for free, and it being available on Kindle Unlimited, I bought it.

THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE MERC fills out the Four Horsemen Universe even more. You get to see more of the "regular" people who populate the universe, a couple of stories about the assassin race, Dupiks, as well as missions undertaken by some of the smaller human mercenary companies.

All of the stories are a great addition to the 4HU and a must-read for any fan.
